A Very Lacy Dress

Ballini had been in quite the mood lately when it came to her fashion designs and she had been working on several dresses that included heavy usage of lace. The delicate dancer had always loved lace and included them in her wardrobe whenever she could. One of the designs happened to be a lovely strappy dress with low round neckline and stopped in middle of her thighs with a lace overlay. The lace overlay was long sleeved with scoop neckline and went to the floor with varying hem lengths; highest at knees and lowest at ankles. There was a lovely thick satin belt wrapped just below the bust.

She needed to settle on the colours and that happens to be the current dilemma. Thus her presence at Cottontail Couture, kneeling down with samples of satin fabric in her hand and eyes locked on assorted lace on the shelf in front of her. Did she want the lace with star design, the lace with flowers, the lace with roses, the more open face lace, the more closed face lace? Ballini hummed in thought as she pondered the options, even asking her sweet albino phloof on her shoulder for their opinions but Clara once bounced a bit. Eventually she decided on simple swirling floral lace. Now to decide on the colour combination. That would be her largest challenge before she would bring them to Peter to chat and get them made. Ballini went to grab the deep rich amethyst shade from the satin fabric selection before returning to stare at the lace colour selection. Clara had jumped down from her shoulder to bounce around before stopping in front of one colour in particular then stared up at her with wide red eyes.

"Blue as dark as the ceiling without lights huh?" Peter commented while eying the blue so dark it could easily pass for black lace in Ballini's hands.
"Mmhm! It should layer nicely over this amethyst purple. Plus Clara seems to really like that." She nodded at the satin underneath and indeed they were layering over the other rather nicely. Clara puffed in pride from their position on her shoulder and Peter chuckled. Once the fabrics were on the cutting table, she pulled out her sketch book and handed it over to Peter who hummed in approval.

"This will look amazing on you. What's it for?"
"Nothing in particular. Had the urge to add more lacy pieces to closet." Ballini smiled lightly as he nodded "I'll get started on the cutting and sewing?"
When Ballini confirmed, Peter immediately got to work on cutting the fabric to specifications while she browsed the store for some jewelry.
At some point she had ended up sitting on a bean bag in the sewing room sketching out more design concepts with Clara dozing on her head while Peter worked the sewing machine.

When Peter pulled back from the machine to stretch his sore back and shoulders, he noted that the delicate dancer had dozed off in the beanbag with her sweet albino phloof nested snugly, tail over head in her lap. Sporting a small kind smile, he got to his feet and grabbed a blanket to cover her in while he took a break to hydrate and stretch his limbs. The dress was halfway through.

By time Ballini awoke from her unplanned nap, Peter was putting the finishing touches on the dress and she had to smile slightly.

"About done?" Peter startled at her voice and glanced over.
"Yes. Good nap?"
"Yes. Thank you for the blanket." Ballini commented as she pulled the blanket off while getting up with Clara easily jumping off her lap. It was swiftly folded and put away as she approached the sewing machine to take closer look at the dress.
"Want to try it on or bring it home?"
"I'll take it with me, I think. I need to feed my imps, get dinner then sleep." Ballini smiled lightly as she took the dress and paid him well for his work before departing for home to her sweet imps. She was rather hungry and she wanted to hang the lovely dress up in her closet. Clara easily bounced around while following her home.
