jack is both church's best friend, and his boss. church is perhaps the longest serving bell at Hells Bells, and as such, has developed a unique bond with the other. there's a deep respect there, layered in loyalty and a willingness to get stuck in when the going gets tough. much like jack, church is the first one to arrive and the last to leave. jack is perhaps one of the few individuals that know something other than the persona the pride bun has wrapped around himself like both armour and hail mary.
the lifeline that jack provided in giving church a job isn't something easily dismissed, nor tossed aside.
for most, matentines gifts them a predictable souvenir: a bun in the oven. but they also say lust and love work in mysterious ways, and are liable to creep up on you unexpectedly. so when matentines gave church a boyfriend, after a string of bad and awkward blind dates, to say he was floored, was something of an understatement.
zhiruo was a pleasant, unexpected surprise and breath of fresh air — flirty and tactile, if not a little aloof around the edges. there had been palpable disappointment when their date had ended, and the chance reconnection was a chance too good to pass up the artistically driven bun captivates the pride bun the same way good music does, and Church can't help but dote. church might call him a muse, but that seems a little too sugary for him to admit.

waffles was zhiruo's boyfriend, long before church came into the picture, and quite the personality to boot. Church's slow burning affection for waffles is only challenged, and sometimes defeated by, how exasperated the other can make him. the ups and downs are worth it, for both the incredulity and humor factor, once he's out of the moment. still, he'd still yeet the honey coloured bun for a packet of cigarettes and a laugh, if given the chance and opening. can't let him think he's getting complacent.
