rest and restraints (nap time) - morgan

“Oh, you’re very big.”

The statement coming from this little—gnome of a bun’s mouth was very forward and on the nose, but it didn’t take anyone with eyes to see Morgan for what she was. The difference was enunciated even further by Shibani’s own size in comparison to Morgan’s; he was a strikingly petite and dainty young man, who when put next to Morgan’s large, built figure, was easily dwarfed by her.

“Mmhm. Yeah,” Morgan said as she peered down at Shibani, who simply tilted his neck up to meet her gaze with his downturned eyes, seemingly matching the way Morgan had to crane her neck down to get a good look at him. He didn’t seem deterred at all by Morgan’s gruff disposition. Jesus, this bun really was a tiny, creature-like thing, she couldn’t imagine that he looked much different in and out of his bun form. “And you’re the size of my little finger,” Morgan offered back, not necessarily to be rude, but rather extremely blunt—as blunt as Shibani had been. She at least ended her sentence with a laugh and a lopsided grin.

Shibani didn’t seem to be offended, either way, even smiling back at her. Even the way he lifted his hand to his mouth as he covered it, laughing into his long white sleeve, had an air of drowsiness about it. “Ahaha, yeah! Mm. You’re right. I get that pretty often. Speaking of… ma’am?” Shibani offered tentatively, perhaps to be kind. “Did you need something?”

Morgan waved one of her big hands about in the air, the silver chain around her wrist rustling with a distinctly metallic noise. Shibani’s eyes seemed to flicker to the side to admire Morgan’s accessories before looking back at her, tilting his head with an innocent smile.

“Don’t call me ma’am,” Morgan clarified. “Just Morgan is fine.”

“Ah. Sorry about that,” Shibani apologized, his tone even and kind. “Morgan, then. Did you need something from me? I was just taking a nap.”

“I can see that—Shibani, right? Heard you have… uh. Pillows. Here.”

Shibani’s head tilted the other way, apparently trying to get a grasp on what Morgan was getting at here. “Yes, I do have pillows… well, everybody does, don’t they?” Shibani offered, leaning one of his slender shoulders against the inner-door frame he was standing in to support his sleepy figure. He yawned once. “I have lots, though. I assume that’s what you heard about? Wanted to test some out, maybe?”

Morgan snorted, her smirk growing a bit wider, showing teeth. “No offense, but I don’t test out any pillows with dudes. Even if they’re as little and pretty as you are.”

Shibani nodded once. “‘Kay, I get that, no offense taken.” Another yawn. “But there must be some reason why you came here looking for my pillows.”

Morgan sighed, rubbing the back of her head. “Yeah. Well, heard you had a lot of them… like, I dunno, unique ones. My girlfriend’s pissed at me, and I thought I’d get her a gift that’d make her unmad at me. I mean, like, if they’re yours, though, it’s kinda weird.”

“Hmmm. Alright then. Well how about this, Morgan. You come in and try them out with me… nothing weird,” Shibani clarified with a little laugh, turning around to face the inside of the house before peering back at Morgan. “And the most comfiest one you find, I’ll let you bring home to your girlfriend. I don’t mind. Napping with people is the best way to get to know them, I think.”

What a weird little fellow this Shibani was. Morgan couldn’t say that she particularly disliked him, and while she didn’t want to necessarily spend this much wasted time getting Imogen to forgive her, she couldn’t find it in herself to say no.

“Sure,” she said, leaving the two of them, big and small, to fluff up pillows together and take a short nap.
