Yue Takes Mixology Lessons
Yue really couldn’t resist when he found out that Hops was offering bartending lessons. He’s not one to like alcohol, however he will never pass up an opportunity to learn more recipes! It’s part of his special interest, and his job, how could he say no? The price wasn’t terrible, and Yue was able to afford it just fine, with the money he makes at his tea shop. Yue closes up the shop early today, with a smile on his face and a hop in his step; more so than usual, at least.
He made sure to wear something a little more convenient than he normally does when he’s in his shop. A short sleeved blouse tucked into frilly shorts, along with a cute blue bowtie. He makes his way to the Rabbit Hole, not wanting to be late. A couple times being stopped on the way, he had to reassure some of his regulars that he would once again be open tomorrow. When he made his way to the bar, he waited for Hops to show up.
When she arrived, she was in a rush. “Forgot the time!” She said, wiping what could be assumed to be liquor off of her lips. She laughed off her nerves, and held out her hand to shake Yue’s. “Nice to meet ya, you’re Yue then? We spoke over the phone.”
Yue smiled politely and nodded, assuming that Hops had lost track of time. “Yes! We did. Nice to meet you, Hops.” He was a little shy when meeting new people, but Hops was rather friendly which made it a lot easier.
They started off with an easy drink, the Hopscotch, one of Hops’ signatures. She first starts off by explaining the ingredients, and how they mix together well. She beams while she’s explaining it thoroughly, going step by step to help Yue understand the full process. Yue was taking notes carefully. He was sure that he would be able to use this knowledge in order to create even better drinks at his own tea shop. He may not serve alcohol, but he could always learn more about perfect mixtures!
The first time he tried to mix everything together, he felt a bit awkward. There was a much different way of moving your arms and hands when crafting these sorts of drinks, whereas tea is a lot more delicate. But after a couple of tries, he seemed to get the hang of it.
“It doesn’t seem too hard after all,” Yue grins.
“Not at all! You did it, good job, Yue!” Hops places the practice drinks behind her on the counter, planning on taking a sip on those later. Now onto the next drink.
