Training Montage | Obstacle Course
The obstacle course that was set up spanned across the entire field. It was supposed to be a test of both endurance and dexterity, with plenty of various obstacles that would make the average imp stumble or even fall depending on what kind of imp they were. Kallisto was honestly kind of worried looking at all of it. Quince said that it would be fine and that if anything happened that Kallisto would be able to call her to fix it, but he couldn't help but be concerned over his little egghel. If anything happened to Foxx, Kallisto wouldn't know what to do with himself, and who knows if he'd even be able to handle calling Quince for help while he was crying on the floor over his beloved imp. Thankfully, Foxx seemed to notice his owner's distress and lightly rolled over to place their head on his hoof, gently bringing the other's attention down and allowing for a moment of calm. The egghel made a little squeak, and Kallisto sighed in response. "Yes, I know. I am worrying a bit too much about all of this, but are you sure you're going to be okay? Even if I'm following along with you the entire time, what if something goes wrong?" In response, Foxx curled up into their shell, rolling rabidly towards one of the obstacles and knocking into it, a loud thunk sound echoing off the surrounding bits of plastic and wood. "Okay! Point taken! Please don't do that again, Foxx!" Kallisto wailed, running over and picking up the egghel.
He placed Foxx back at the starting line of the obstacle course, looking out towards the expansive course and humming slightly. "We'll just go through each obstacle once so that you can get the hand of it, okay? If we come across any duplicates, we'll skip over them. We've still got plenty of time to practice, so we don't need to rush anything. Foxx seemed to be able to agree with that, nodding once and curling back up to prepare for Kallisto's signal to start running the obstacles. "Now, remember to be careful..." Kallisto started, and before he could even say the word 'go', Foxx was already on the move, rolling quickly towards the first obstacle. It was an easy one to figure out, to the point where Kallisto didn't even bother trying to explain it- a tunnel, a simple behavior of going in through one side and out the other. The next obstacle was a seesaw, another classic but with a bit more care needed as to not fall off. Kallisto tried to speak and snap his fingers in the directions that Foxx should try to lean to in order to keep his balance. That seemed to be understood easily, making the seesaw another easy obstacle.
The difficulty started to rear it's ugly head when it came to the small climbing wall. Plenty of imps could crawl over extremely easily, but egghels did not exactly count in that category. After all, they didn't show their arms or legs, and only had a tail to work with when it came to scaling the wall. "Okay, so try to use your tail to latch onto one of the little plastic hooks hanging off of the wall, they're typically meant for sceils to climb up, but I think you can maneuver yourself up there with your tail if you just-" Kallisto started to explain, only to watch Foxx latch onto one of the hooks and toss themself upwards with their own strength. Kallisto admittedly gave out a bit of a scream at that, but Foxx landed perfectly fine on the other side of the obstacle and continued to roll forward at a high speed. The lust succubun tried his best to keep up, huffing and panting a little as he ran forwards and towards the next obstacle.
It was another jump, but without any of the assistance that the walls had. They were mostly for quadrupedal imps, though it was short enough for a sceil or loafki to manage to hop over as well. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite short enough for Foxx to roll over it, or to jump while rolling without hitting the bar. Kallisto had learned at this point that his advice wasn't going to stop Foxx from doing whatever they wanted to do. When the egghel rolled forward, Kallisto closed his eyes in preparation for a clattering noise or some other indication that the obstacle had been knocked over- but it didn't come. He opened his eyes just soon enough to watch the egghel roll under the bar, skipping the obstacle while still technically completing it. He'd have to ask Quince if that was allowed later, but he was just glad that his imp was alright for the time being.
They had completed all of the obstacles that were out for the day, though Kallisto was aware that some new ones might show up through the month in order to prepare for the big contest at the end. However, Foxx seemed keen on continuing to run through the course again and again, finding new ways to maneuver quicker and quicker. He was so quick in fact, that Kallisto couldn't even keep up, forcing him to stand and watch as the egghel blazed through the field multiple times over.
Kallisto wasn't a fan of being so far away when Foxx could get injured at any point... but it wasn't like he had a choice in the matter. Foxx themself wasn't too worried, even if their owner didn't have much confidence in them, they had enough confidence in themself to make up for it.
