A Night Together

"Oh? Wine buying?" Casque raised an eyebrow when few bottles of wine were set onto the counter in front of him, and the sweet Gluttony rolled her eyes with an amused smile.

"Spending few days Az's. Lessa visiting Dove." She signed out an explanation as Casque rang the bottles up with a nod. "Makes sense. Tell her I said hello?"
"Will do. Thanks!" Rosetti-Briar took the bag and left as Casque wiped down the counter with a cloth before nodding at his employees as he departed for the evening.

The temperature had dropped for the evening and while the chill didn't bother him, Casque knew it would be bothering a certain Pride far more than usual and he wanted to stop by early to check on him. He did have that chilli stewing away when he got it started that morning before leaving for his property. It should be ready by now. Maybe a hour or two?

The Envy hummed as he tugged his coat tighter around him while crossing his property toward the building on the neighbouring property where he knew Montressor to be easily located at. He shivered in relief as he entered the building and beelined for the kitchen to check on the slow cooker. It was chugging along well, and the contents seemed to need another hour or so.
Time to check on the surely grumpy Pride. Casque sighed softly and braced himself for the increase in moodiness he was sure to face shortly.

When the Envy cracked open the door to the office, he spotted the brunette Pride's head down, hand with pen in it going across papers; obviously super focused. Judging by the tension in his limbs and the deepening wrinkles in what parts of his face that Casque could see; Montresor was stressed and grumpy.

The Pride barely acknowledged his presence as Casque walked further into the office and around the desk until he was leaning back against it to the side; gazing down at the scowling Pride in concern. The moment the Pride stopped writing, and his pen had been paid down; Casque reached down to cup his cheek and gently turned toward him. Montresor's immediate scowl promptly melted into a frown once he realized who had intruded into his office without his notice. His lips parted to speak but was interrupted by Casque's soft lips pressing against them. His protests were quickly swallowed by more pecks before Casque pulled away to gaze down at the blushing Pride who had placed a hand on Casque's waist.

"I do think it's about time to stop working for the evening" Casque's quiet voice chided him gently as he swiped another kiss from Montresor who looked ready to protest. Then Casque gasped softly in surprise when he was abruptly pulled into the taller man's lap and closer to his chest; arms wrapping around him comfortably. Securely.

His cheeks pinkened a little at that as it was very rare for Montresor to imitate any kind of affection. He blinked up at Montresor who was slowly relaxing much to his relief. "....The chilli needs another hour. We have some time to relax until dinner." Casque murmured as he leaned against Montresor's chest, his hands lightly playing with the Pride's sleeves. When he felt the Pride nuzzle against his hair with a soft hum, Casque had to smile slightly at that as his tail swung around until it wrapped around the other tail. Then he yelped in surprise when large hands slipped under his untucked button up shirt and pressed against his side.
"Fuck! You're fucking cold, you damned pride!" Casque swore, pouting when he heard an amused snort from the Pride.
"And you are warm. My hands are stiff." He retorted as he slid hands up Casque's torso; drawing out a soft shiver from the Envy who swore softly under his breath.

Casque reached up to pull him into another sweet kiss, humming softly when he returned the kisses; reluctantly pulling away after a minute or two to murmur that they really should go check on chilli and eat dinner. Casque narrowed his eyes when the Pride looked ready to protest.

"I know you have not had a single thing to eat today. You are not skipping dinner and that's final." Casque rolled his eyes at the soft huff in his ear as he carefully extracted himself from Montresor's lap and smoothed over his shirt while stepping away so Montresor can get up.

As the Pride settled down at the dining table, Casque made up their bowls of chilli along with an accompanying glass of red wine each from one of Montresor's personal collection.

".......Casque?" At that oddly quiet tone from the Pride, Casque paused and set down his fork as he glanced across table at Montresor who was fidgeting with his hands and cracking them.

"...What is it?" Casque prompted the Pride who opened and closed his mouth few times then paused; looking to be stuck in his thoughts. It took him several minutes to find his words to speak especially after few sips of his red wine.

"Thank you. For...well. Everything. For looking after me I suppose..." Montresor faltered as he reached for his wine and grumbled under his breath at the sound of Casque's chuckling.

"Do I need to get you properly drunk to even speak your feelings again?" Casque teases lightly, smirking at Montresor's scowl then adds
"You're welcome. Let me clear the table then we can relax for the evening?" At the Pride's nod, Casque cleared the table and sighed softly when Montresor snuck up behind him to wrap arms around him in the kitchen.

"So clingy." Casque rolled his eyes "You're picking the movie tonight. Let's just enjoy our time together tonight, hmm?"

"We are taking the wine with us." Montresor retorted as they headed off toward the living room with the glasses and bottle in hand; ready to cuddle up on the couch and enjoy a movie for the evening.
