Creating With Joy

Cailean was excited to be introduced to a new holiday. Fae loved winter holidays especially as winter time was beautiful. Towards the beginning of the month, the bagpiper had attended a workshop at the embassy to learn about the holiday. Fae had learned many things, but what caught faer attention the most was the making of wreaths. This made the succubun want a wreath on faer door at home. This put the pride on faer task of finding the perfect items for faer wreath. At faer heels were faer three friegns, following as she gathered supplies. Faer other imps and faer virtues had stayed at home in the warm blankets.

Faer boots left heavy imprints in the dirt as fae gathered branches from faer favorite winter woods. Arawn, Dagda, and Shidhe helped the pride pick out thin branches of cypress, mistletoe, and hawthorne. Fae were going to braid and trim faer own wreath. Cailean had ribbons and bobbles at home to add more festivity to the wreath. Others might think the pride was going overboard, but it was faer’s genuine excitement for the season. She wanted to pick up some silver glitter, tinsel, and some flowers while she was out too.

Fae did not concern faeself to figuring out how faer friegns carried small twigs as they walked, it was not something fae wanted to be overly concerned with. Fae went to visit Hollyhock & Iris Floral Emporium. Cailean knew Azrael would have the perfect flowers for the wreath. Fae bought snowdrops, a sprig of pieris, camellias, and cornflowers. Cailean also went to the Heavenly Embassy to pick up a couple of branches of holy holly.

After that, fae went to the nearest craft store. Glitter spray, a mask, and silver tinsel were the last things they wanted for faer’s winter wreath. Fae walked home carrying her supplies. Faer three friegns trotted next to faer with their chosen sticks. Fae opened the door to faer home, letting the imps in first. Fae closed the door behind her and set faer supplies on the table, next to the tartan ribbons and miniature boxes painted like gifts.

Fae gently took the sticks faer imps offered, thanking them each. Fae sat down at the table and began to craft the wreath. Fae interchanged the holly and cypress branches, making them look evenly featured. Fae wove the snowdrops and cornflowers into the top arch of the wreath, blue and white blooms brightening the wreath. The pieris hung from the bottom center with the camellias spreading along the bottom arch. Cailean then took the tartan ribbon and crafted two poinsettias, tying them to either side of the wreath. Fae put three miniature gifts under each tartan poinsettia. Fae decided not to use the glitter spray, but gently wrapped the tinsel around the wreath, making sure not to obscure any of faer already carefully placed decorations.

Fae held the wreath up for faer imp to give their approval. The virtues tittered about, seeming gleeful with the product. The phantomile stayed back, not wanting to get tangled in ribbon like they had a few weeks ago. Faer bearly touched the wreath then ran back to their imp bed. Arawn, Dagda, and Shidhe started jumping through the wreath, seeming to think it was their beloved hoop game. Cailean loved her imps and virtues, even with their very different reactions. Fae held the wreath for a bit until the friegns had tired themselves out and curled up on their pillow.

Fae walked to the front door. Fae held the wreath carefully, not wanting to drop it before it was even up on the door. The musician delicately hung the wreath, smiling happily at the colorful circle she had made. It brought faer a sense of warmth as fae took a step back to admire it. Fae knew it would not mean as much had fae bought it premade, or had Arawn, Dagda, Shidhe not helped faer.

Fae had a sudden idea. The pride went inside and found a blank journal and a pen. Fae opened the journal and wrote one of faer friend’s names at the top of the page. Below that, fae listed positive traits about this friend. Fae then wrote out plants, colors, and items the other bun either liked or reminded them of. Fae repeated this process for 4 more buns.

The pride grabbed a bag and left for the craft store, faer journal in hand. Back in the craft store, the bagpiper picked out ribbons, beads, and tinsel. Fae picked up small foam boxes, some colored felt sheets, and metal hoops as well. Cailean then went back to the Heavenly Embassy to acquire more holy holly. After that, fae went back to Hollyhock and Iris Emporium, buying more flowers. After stopping to gather more branches of cypress, pine, mistletoe, and hawthorne, the pride went home to make the wreaths for faer friends.

Cailean loves the winter and any holidays in winter. A new holiday is no exception.
