[PROMPT] Hellspawn
Gwen was shaking.
All this spook and hysteria, the death of Oleander, dangers around every percieved corner. She couldn't take it. She was scared at all times, Damon had even considered closing the bar for the safety of his employees before they all argued back against his idea. Gwen slightly regrets being momentarily headstrong in that moment. She knows all she has to do is ask and he'll move her shifts up so she doesn't have to head home when its dark but...she feels bad even asking. Its a personal issue, one she desperately needs to work on still.
She wants to call Gamma, Of course she does. However, she ALSO feels bad having him always have to take time out of his night just to escort her around like a pathetic damsel. She loves him so much, So much that she hates the thought of bugging him. Its just a bit of light murder, Its not like she would ever be targetted for such a thing, She had to get a hold of herself! As she left the doors, trembling slightly, she started her autopilot walk towards her home.
Gwen wishes she could say she was shaking from the cold alone, but that wasn't it. Her worry overtakes her mind as she walks the unsurprisingly empty streets and pushes her overthinking tendencies into overdrive. For a moment she clutches her phone from her bag and pulls it close to her chest, Unsure how this would even help, Yet unwilling to let go of it. Her shoulders bunched up more as her hooves clicked against the stone, causing a soft but noticeable little echo. It felt like she was in some kind of fairytale dreamland, only it would have to be a NON fairytale nightmareland in this case. She was so on edge she had even clipped her hair up and out of her eyes before she had exited the building, grey eyes shifting to every corner she saw, or in the direction of every gust of wind or subtle snap.
Paranoid didn't even begin to descrbe it. Just as she continued her usual route, She finds that its blocked off. Roadworks of some sort? At this hour? Well, No, It looks as if they're mid-work and had to leave things for the night. So she would have to cut through the park in order to go an alternate route. Thats fine, Parks are fine. In the dark. At night. Alone. Gwen shakes her head vigurously to stop her mind freaking her out and forces herself to turn and start walking. She focuses on how cold it is rather than how alone she happens to be. She barely makes it far into the park before she realises she hasn't been here in a while....she has no clue where the fuck shes going. Panic rises from her chest, filling space behind her eyes and floating up to her ears which shake slightly. Oh demons. Oh hell. What way is she supposed to go again? The lump forming in her throat threatens to choke her as her freakout starts to escelate. Suddenly everything is now ten times more intense. She is hyperaware of every sound, every twig snap, bush rustle, footstep- WAIT, FOOTSTEPS?!?!
"Excuse me, my dear?"
Gwen jumps, stumbling back with terror as her gut twists and she covers her face with her hands, squeaking out a tiny sob "PLEASE DONT EAT ME"
"Eat you? I wouldn't do that, Promise." The figure laughs, low and warm as she yelps the words out and tilts their head. Realising she hadn't been swallowed whole by the ground or the stranger, Gwen shakily removes her hands from her face and glances up through her now tear stained eyes to get a glance at the doll ahead of her.
Gwen didn't recognise him, and who could blame her? Unless you were a victim of Lord Lagosi, You wouldnt know him either. He holds out a hand towards her with a smile and she takes it with some hesitation. Shes pulled up to her hooves again and brushes herself off in a hurried manner, seems like she now has some space to be embarrassed, toying with the fabric of her skirt and swallowing thickly. She must look like such an idiot, if her yelling about not being eaten didn't make her look like enough of a fool, that is.
"I dont mean to frighten you, or pry, but you look a little freaked out and you don't seem to have anyone around you, did you lose your buddy or are you just...lost?" He asks and for some stupid, stupid reason, Gwen trusts him. Theres something about him thats so warm and inviting, and it gives off a false sense of safety, she falls right into the trap. Just like the mouse with the cheese. She rubs her eyes with her hands softly
"I-im not with anyone...the roadworks blocked my path home so i had to cut through here b-but...i havent been here in so long and its so dark i.." She sniffles softly, clearly defeated and ashamed of her own lack of survival skills
"Ah, I see. Well, I'm rather good in the dark, So i can probably navigate you out of here." He offers and she blinks slowly at him
"A...are you sure? I dont want to be any trouble i just...i just need to get to the west exit and i can be out of your way!" Gwen mumbles, siezing up a little with her own embarassment once more and Lagosi shrugs
"I was only out here to stroll the park since i knew it would be empty due to the time of night, Its no trouble out of my day."
She nods slowly and very carefully begins to follow the man as he walks. There's small talk, Its not much but its strange how he manages to get her to speak, Many find it hard to do and yet here she is, chatting away like its always been easy. They exchange names so its easier to speak as well, Her name on his tongue makes her shudder and she isn't entirely sure why that is. She feels a bit more secure when finally, at long last, the west exit is within view. Gwens smile of relief slowly fades as they get a bit closer and see that the gates closed. Not just closed, locked, even. They stop walking a long way from the gate once she realises this, though she hasn't noticed the man behind her instead of continuing his pacing.
"O-oh...No...I didnt...Why would it be locked if the roadworks are going on? Are we supposed to go all the way round?" Gwen mumbles, confused
"I do apologise Gwen"
"Its-Its okay! I-I dont think anyone could've predicted the locks,,," She murmurs and he chuckles. Suddenly she notices just how close he seems but she doesn't turn fast enough.
"No, I knew it was locked. I apologise for breaking the promise i made earlier, I'm not very good with those, It seems" He states
"Wha-" She finally turns, but its too late, Before she can even get a glimpse of what was going on she feels a very sharp pain in her neck and a surprisingly gentle hand against her cheek.
Gwen cries out, squirming, struggling, but the more the vampire drinks from her the less strength she finds herself having to be resistant. Its like she can feel the life being sipped from her. Shes so tired, She was before all this shit tonight started, and now more than ever she feels fatigued. She feels strange. Gwen can't keep her eyes open, wincing and crying through them as they seem to become more and more squinted.
"W-why-" Gwen whispers weakly before her eyes close properly.
"Rest, You'll join with the others soon enough." Lagosi replies when his mouth detatches from her neck. She can feel the blood dripping down in a slow trail to her shoulder. What the fuck was happening? Was she bitten? Why? How did it hurt this much? Is this what Oleander felt before he died?
She should've called Gamma.
Gwen loses consciousness, and she has no idea the next time she wakes...she'll have no control over her actions, She has no idea she'll be tossed at Silver and Timothy like a mindless drone, or a soulless weapon to take them all down in their mission to save the other spawn.
