Trial and error

Pale as snow, standing there frozen was the ivory bun. Her ears lowered, hands in the air and tail between her legs; she tried to show submission to the jumpy little creature infront of her. Arwen’s body language was not picked up as a threat or that of submission, quite opposite – the little chirop infront of her saw it as an invitation to play.

The little imp continued to bounce, flapping it’s wings to try and signal the invitation to play.
Arwen swallowed. She hesitantly let out the breath her lungs had been holding in and carefully lowered her hands.

She had a slight fear that the imp was trying to attack her, even if that thought didn’t have any rationality in it.
Carefully, the bun sat down to the chirop’s level. Although her ears remained lowered and tail between her legs, she slowly offered her hand to the imp.

The imp was quick to react at the offer and as Arwen immediately turned her head around in fear of the creature inflicting some kind of pain on her.. she felt two light legs bounce on the top of her hand.
Turning her head to reveal the imp, the little chirop was now doing it’s little playful motion onto her hand instead.

It took her a few seconds to process it. Her ears starting to perk slightly as her tail began to shift from her legs.

Arwen tilted her head in slight confusion at the creature, soon finding the creature coping her motion; tilting it’s head in the same direction.

The first attempt to make some kind of connection with the imp seemed to go surprisingly well, only quite confusing to Arwen. Especially as someone who just started taking care of one and someone who had been sheltered their entire life.

She thought imps were improper, like her own kind. Forced to believe that she wasn’t meant to be a succubun; the belief that burrowgatory was viscous came as an opposite surprise upon her arrival.
The imps seemed different than pests, this one especially.

The chirop stopped jumping on her hand, now sitting on it instead. It seemed like it was waiting for something. It’s bright eyes stared back at her pale ones.

Trying to understand what it wanted, Arwen carefully pulled out her other hand and slowly approached it towards the creature.
The little chirop sat on her hand still. Not phased nor scared of her hand.
The only one trembling in this was Arwen; even her tail having gone back between her legs.

Once her hand finally touched the little imp, it let out a soft purring noise. A sound of contentment.
Feeling her fear drop, she began to carefully stroke the creature.
It continued to purr. It’s eyes closing and wings lowering to let itself be vulnerable to her.

A smile began to slowly linger Arwen’s lips. Her tail showing itself as her hesitance melted.
The fear of the imp began to melt as well, the feeling being replaced with a sense of relief and affection.
