A sleepy stakeout

It was the night of the big stakeout. Snuggler Supreme had slept most of the day, in anticipation of staying up late with Hops. Snugs rolled out of bed with a plop. She slowly shuffled her way across the carpet. A bright pink, shag carpeting lay throughout the entire bedroom. Snugs loved the feel of the shag against her fur. First things first though, she needed to get ready. She grabbed her duffle bag and packed a small, square pillow, a medium sized quilt, and some snacks to help keep her awake. If she had to stakeout all night, she was going to be comfy!

Slinging the duffle bag over her shoulder, she set out to go meet Hops. Through the living room she moved, careful to avoid knocking anything over with the duffle bag. Snugs opened the door and headed towards the Casino. Tonight, there would be no security guards, no extra lights flooding the garden, and no loud noises from the patrons of the casino.

She was due to be at the Wonderland casino garden a few hours early. After all, her and hops still had to make the camouflage from the scraps of fabric, ready the long handled imp net, and prepare the dango received from Shibani. This was all before needing to find a hiding spot and covering up.

Snugs arrived a couple hours late, to find Hops in a total frenzy. Hops was trying to patch together all the fabrics. It would seem they were cut up even further than when she grabbed them. Hops was trying to sew together tiny pieces, and not having much luck from the looks of it.

“Where have you been Snugs? I’ve been waiting hours, and finally started to work on the camouflage!” Her voice was as frenzied at she was.

“Calm down Hops. I made it early still. I can prepare everything else while you work on this. Fair deal?” Snugs said in her usual calming, slow voice. Hops’ shoulders eased up a little, as she dropped her arms to her side. With a nod, they both agreed. Hops would work on the camouflage and Snugs would prepare the net and dango, along with what she brought in her bag.

Snugs yawned quite big, and set out to retrieve the items needed. She found the dango right behind Hops, still as neatly packed as when she picked them up. The imp net on the other hand, was nowhere in site. Snugs frowned and started looking around. As she turned around,  her bag caught on something. It was the net, which had been sitting horizontally on some books. Bingo, now she had what she needed. Turning back to Hops, snugs said “ I’ve got it all ready. Now what?”

“Now, we need a place between a couple bushes. Somewhere we can hide and won’t be spotted. Can I trust you to do that? I’m still working on the fabric.” Hops said, not looking up from the fabric she was working on. Snugs shouldered the duffle bag over one shoulder, held the net over the other, and carried the dango with her free hand. She walked outside to the garden area, giving it another look over. You couldn’t tell that anything had messed up the hazeblooms. Hops did a good job on that.

Scanning the perimeter of the garden, Snugs sees a spot just big enough for two, and her necessities of course. Walking over, Snugs set everything down on the ground and started ruffling through the her bag. Pulling out the pillow and blanket, she found a spot on the ground that was flat. This will work for the resting spot. She lay down the pillow and blanket and got under the blanket, seeing how comfy the spot actually is.

The next thing she knew, Hops was over her,  trying to wake her up. She sat up, coming face to face with Hops. There was a short moment of tension between them as they were close to each other. Hops cleared her throat and shuffled backwards off of Snugs.”How could you fall asleep out here? You were supposed to be getting the spot ready.” Hops sounded a little perturbed.

“I found the spot though. And all the items we need are here except for the fabrics.” Snugs said to her.

“I’ve got the fabric inside, waiting for the right time to set up and start our stakeout.” Hops assured Snugs. It was staring to get dark. If they didn’t hide soon, the creature may not come at all. Hops ran inside to grab the fabric that she had painstakingly sewn together. It looked good, and more important, it was big enough to hide them and what they needed.

They both worked on preparing the site for the stakeout. Soon, the site was ready. Hops had little room, since Snugs brought the pillow and blanket, and laid down on them. “Snugs. Stay awake. It’s very important we catch this creature. Snugs was already half asleep at that time. Yawning wide, she sat up and positioned herself next to Hops.

No matter how hard she tried though, The slothy bun just couldn’t stay awake. Every time that Hops looked over, Snugs was fast asleep again. “I’m gonna have to do this myself.” Hops said to herself.
