Shall we dance?
It was almost comical to think about the level of elaboration of the event taking place around them. The walls had been decorated with gold and white details, matching the general aesthetic of both the venue and the masked ball theme. And the banquet hall was bigger than any place they'd ever been in.
Dam! The place was probably capable of accommodating 5 or more of their own apartment!
This was an exclusive, invitation-only event. Normally, Alizée wouldn't waste their time at events such as this, but when the invitation arrived at their house and was addressed specifically to them, the bun couldn't help but wonder what they had done to attract the attention of the city's titans.
But despite all the luxury, the fine food and drink, and the high-society guests... Alizée was completely bored.
Now there they were, in their dark green suits and simple mask, drinking from a glass of fine champagne, hoping something interesting would happen to make their night a tiny bit better.
Milki walked in through the door entering the ball, Milki wearing a long pink and white dress with a bit of glitter. Looking around the ball sees all types of buns, some dancing and some talking, some drinking and talking. Milki went over to the snack bar as she forgot to eat before coming to the ball.
Grabbing a flat long plate and she started to grab some cake, sandwiches. Once she got a good amount Milki walked over to an empty table and lay down her plate. Looking over at it as she starts to walk to the bar for a drink.
Once at the bar, she said to the bartender “keratini please.” The bartender nodded, getting her drink ready looking around her, seeing a few buns drinking and talking. After a minute or two the bartender has her drink ready saying “Thank you so much!” Milki walked back to the table where her food was, she put down her drink and started to eat.
After the glass had been emptied and collected by one of the waiters, Alizée decided to go to the bar again for another glass.
Personally, the bun wasn't a heavy drinker, but honestly, at that moment, the free drink was the only nice thing about the party. Perhaps when they started to feel light in the head and a little numb in the fingers, they would finally decide to go home.
On their way to the bar, the crash of a glass hitting the floor caught their attention, and as soon as they turned their back, they saw one of the guests sitting at one of the tables and looking a little frightened at the shattered glass and the drink spilled on the floor.
Had their tail bumped into the table and they hadn't even noticed?
"I'm sorry..." Alizzée approached the table as they approached the bun. "I think I accidentally bumped into your table... are you all right?"
Milki looked surprised but once she looked at the bun in front of her looking surprised too. Milki putting two and two together kinda of shrugged it off in her mind as they were free drinks and she could always get herself another.
Responding to the apologetic bun “Oh it’s alright! Mistakes happen. They are free drinks after all so I don’t mind as I can get myself another.” Milki starts to stand up to get herself another drink over at the bar wondering if the bun is heading the same way.
Milki asked “Are you getting yourself a drink? I wouldn’t mind accompanying you along if you are and if you are ok with that of course.” Milki smiles as she waits for an answer.
Alizée reached towards the doll and placed one of their hands on one of her shoulders in a polite way, preventing her from getting up and starting to walk towards the bar.
"That was my intent, in fact..." replies Alizée with a polite smile. "Please, let me make it up to you. You can wait here while I get your drink... what do you think?"
Milki let out a small giggle as she said “Only if you sit with me after.” Milki smiles, hoping the bun says yes. Look around the table and start to clean some of it from my drink being spilled.
Getting some napkins after as some of the liquid is still there and walk over to the snack table. Grabbing quite a bit of napkins and going back to the table cleaning the rest of what’s left of the drink.
"That sounds lovely, so if you'll excuse me, I'll try not to take too long..."
Alizée gave a brief smile towards the doll and then headed for the bar to get her drinks.
It was a short process, during which they ordered a new glass of Keratini for their new friend and a glass of Peach Helini, which is also what he was drinking before. As soon as both drinks were in their hands, they returned to where the doll was waiting.
"Here it is." Alizée spoke as she approached the table, delivering the drink to the doll and finally taking a seat.
“Well thank you so much! My name is Milki by the way.” Milki smiles and takes a sip of her Keratini. Sighing in relief as she started to eat her food as well, mildly cold but Milki shrugged it off as she was hungry as it was.
Milki looking up after eating some and wiping her mouth with a towel she asks “So what do you like to do here at the ball if I may ask?” Milki was curious about their response but waited patiently for their response. Milki ate a bit more after asking the question and taking another sip of her Keratini..
"No problem at all. I am Alizée, Miss Milki. It’s a pleasure to meet you"
The doll takes a quick taste of their fruity drink before placing the glass on the table.
"Honestly, I'm still not sure why or how I was invited, but I decided to join the occasion nonetheless. However, I've been bored ever since I arrived. I was contemplating taking my leave after finishing this glass."
“Oh how come? If I may ask.” Milki tilted her some when Alizée said that to her. Eating some more of her food and sipping a bit more while she is curious to hear their answer.
Milki adjusted herself on her seat to get more comfortable after finishing some of her food. She had about half of her food and drink left once she adjusted herself.
While looking at the other guests, Alizée takes another sip of their drink before returning their attention to Milki.
“Everything is just...very boring. Parties like these aren't exactly my cup of tea, you know? But even so, I decided to give it a try…but unfortunately, I guess I’ll go back home disappointed.”
Milki looked a bit sad because of how Alizée was feeling at the ball. Milki finished her drink and stood up holding out her hand looking at Alizée and asked “Would you like to have this dance with me?” Milki's eyes sparkling a bit from the light hitting her. Hoping Alizée says yes and Milki can show her a good time at the ball since she wasn’t having a great time, to begin with.
Alizée looked at Milki in surprise for a few long seconds until a soft laugh escaped their lips. It was definitely not what the doll was expecting, but it was certainly a very unexpected change of pace.
“After that lovely invitation? Certainly!” The bun got up from their chair and accepted Milki's hand and gave it a light kiss. “Shall we?”
Milki was surprised and their face turned red when the bun kissed her hand. “O-oh y-yeah.” Milki, a bit lost for words, followed Alizèe to the dance floor as a nice slow song began to play. Milki thought to herself “ Omg I can’t believe she accepted to dance with me! Aaaahhh!” Internally screaming in her head, her face not showing much of it.
It had been a very lucky chance when a new tune had begun to play as soon as they and Milki had made their way to the dance hall. Alizée held one of Milki's hands in theirs while the other one was placed on her waist, and then they began to follow the music in slow steps.
The tune was a slow one, but lovely and cheerfully, just like the bun who they were sharing that dance with. At some point, Alizée decided to increase the difficulty of the dance and slowly twirled Milki around, taking care not to make her dizzy.
Looking at Alizée cheeks a bit red before they start to dance. Once they start dancing, Milki follows Alizée's footsteps one by one. Milki feels hot and has butterflies in her stomach. Surprised when Alizée spins her but giggles some as she follows the footsteps still. Enjoyed the spin Milki one hand on Alizée hip smiling. Just enjoying this moment wishing it could last forever as Milki feels a bit close to Alizée.
Alizée proceeded to lead Milki around the dance floor and flashed a sly grin when they caught sight of the shorter bun smiling and giggling. It had been a while since they'd last set hoove on the dance floor, and they were pleased to find that they still hadn't lost their touch.
Okay so, maybe events like this weren't so boring after all, Alizée decided.
Before they knew it, one song turned into two, which turned into three. At some point, Alizée had simply lost count and the only reason they were aware of how long they had been dancing was the light sweat they could feel forming on their necks.
Milki noticed the sweat as the music finished, happy with how well the dance went. Milki smiles as she takes one hand off of Alizée, the other hand holds Alizée's hand. Milki does not notice until she looks down and her face starts to blush.
“I am so sorry! I didn’t know I was doing that.” Milki moves the hand that was holding Alizée's hand. Milki is a bit embarrassed and nervous that the bun might be a bit freaked out. Milki’s hand now behind her back hides them a bit so then the same mistake doesn’t happen again.
" Oh, don't worry! No harm done!" said Alizée with a grin as they followed the other bun back to the table.
As soon as they sat down at the table, a waiter came over with a tray full of glasses and Alizée wasted no time in grabbing a glass for them and Milki.
“Well, I have to say I can't thank you enough for brightening my night..." They say as they raise the glass to Milki.
Milki blushed some as she raised her glass “Well thank you as well, it was a team effort.” Milki giggles after as she takes a drink looking at the time. “So if you don't mind, may we have each other's contact information?” Milki blushed some while looking away a little bit.
Alizée took a long sip of her cold drink, and in front of Milki's flushed cheeks, they just gave her a charming smile. After all, it wasn't every day that one found good company, and enjoyed a pleasant night.
"Not at all..." they pulled out their phone from their pants pocket and then exchanged contacts. “I look forward to your call, I can't wait for us to dance again.”
Definitely, that night had been way more interesting than they had thought it would be.
