"Yes, I'm an author," His ear flicks, "I've written at least 24 books during my time here in Burrowgatory, 79 counting novels from series that aren't mine."

"Yes, it's a side job I have at 'Sapphire's Brilliance Bijoux.'" Nova pushes his glasses up the bridge of his button nose, glancing away for a moment, "I make a decent amount of money with ghostwriting. But I felt myself slowly going mad as I rotted away in my office." There's a beat of silence, "...The job helps me socialize."

Nova sputters, cheeks going a little rosy, "Fluttering-- my wings?" His tail flicks as he regains his composure, "Don't worry about it. Is it loud-? I hope not."

Nova's ears wiggle briefly in interest, seemingly excited to discuss his work. Who would've thought? "Hell, am I supposed to list them all out?" He says with a soft smile as he slides the book he was reading further away on the table. Nova turns his chair to face you, "Cavernous Winds or Bloodhound Midnight?" he asks, must be the name of some titles.

Nova scoffs, "Old enough to be offended!" He laughs awkwardly, brows scrunching in confusion at the rude question. "Do you usually say crap like that to people you just met?"

Nova chuckles, amused as he relaxes a little more in his seat, "Am I GOOD at the job? I'd like to think so- I'd be pretty damn embarrassed if I was bad at it."

"If it helps me socialize I must like it, no? I've made good friends there, it's quiet and serene. Beautiful venue. Yeah, the jewelry store is lovely."

Nova's star motes shine a little brighter at the statement, he laughs it off, "I'm not 'cute' " He air-quotes, "But thank you for the compliment."

"Ah shit," He chuffs, looking over his shoulder with a frown, "I don't do it on purpose. They're useless as is."

Nova's smile gets bigger and shifts into a proud smirk, "That would be my magnum opus," He leans forward, "A shy city succubun stumbles upon an ancient cave and falls in love with a magical spirit..." Nova wiggles his fingers with dramatic flare, "It's my best seller AND was a passion-project of mine, that doesn't happen often!"

"Oh yeah, that one was fun to write," He snorts, "A drunk gets tangled with a bunch of mafia vampire criminals. My first political drama and thriller-- learnt a lot during the research phase. It's... Not very popular though." Nova rubs the back of his neck.

"It's alright, I just got surprised by your tone. I'm nearing forty. I- Just--..." He smiles nervously, "I'm married to the work, not like I've been here hundreds of years." Nova flaps a hand, "I'm not even sure I'd want to be a writer that long anyways."

". . . " Nova looks a little befuddled and then very entertained at that admission, "Well, aren't you quite the character," He takes off his glasses to clean them, wanting to get a better look at you, "Want to get a coffee later?"

Nova laughs, "Please. I used to sell slushees, not just fancy jewelry. I've experienced the highs and lows of mundane retailing; I find the job very, very easy," He crosses his arms, "It's quite straight forward, they give me the money and I give what they asked for. And if they bitch, they complained at the wrong part-time poet."

"Sure. Why not? Can't promise I'll remember your face, but if you remind me I'll be able to recall you-- Oh!" He interrupts himself, holding up a finger, "Make sure you actually plan to buy something... Sapphire doesn't like it when someone only comes in to chat."

That has Nova fall silent, tail swishing, ". . . Good question. Guess we'll see."

"As in the menial task of operating the counter? Not really, not like I find it fun. But work is work, and for /work/ it isn't too bad. There's worse jobs out there." He opens the book he was reading, "Writing my novels is my 'fun-work' outlet... Sometimes."

He looks into your eyes before glancing around to see if there's anybody else in earshot. He then leans closer and playfully smirks. There's a hint of nervousness (or maybe excitement) in his posture, face still flush, "That so~?" He says, pushing his glasses up.

Nova goes silent then sighs in defeat, "I do. I do get called cute often. I don't believe it fits me, though. Personality wise, "vibe wise," as the kids would say. I'm not jovial enough for the title."

He clears his throat, "It can mean a lot of things, but it's just another way my body expresses itself. I don't really think that's your business anyways-- Sorry."

Nova looks around, ears twitching subtly, "Yeah, you're right. It's a sad, little barren place as well, isn't it? The library. Most new succubuns prefer to obtain their literature solely online-- which I understand," He laughs quietly.

"Nice talk," Nova returns to his book.
