Ars Goetia Contest
Demons are often figures of legend in Burrowgatory, playing an important role in shaping their lives, civilization, and mythology.
Since Succubuns launched one year ago, three demons have been prominently featured in its lore. Despite their importance, Allocer and Gremory are still faceless, while Murmur could use a fancier design to better reflect his importance to succubun culture.
To this end, we're holding a contest to design new looks for Murmur, Allocer, and Gremory! The winning designs will be redrawn by Luca and displayed on a new Ars Goetia lore page, alongside information about the individual demons.
Demon Design Guidelines
For this contest, you will need to draw a fully colored, full-body reference of your demon of choice. This art does not need to be cleanly lined or shaded. You may include additional concept art if you so choose, but it will not affect your chances of winning.
Though demons can have any kind of appearance within Succubuns lore, we've chosen to have all of our canonical demons follow the same general appearance rules that will keep them consistent and separate them from succubuns.
The following traits will be required for all demon design entries:
- Fully humanoid body (no hooves, etc.)
- Pointed ears (elf-like, not animal-like)
- Prominent horns (not resembling any type of succubun horns)
- Unnatural skin tone (desaturated/naturalistic shades as shown in the old Murmur design; no vivid colors)
Demonic features such as fangs, claws, dark sclera, devil tails, etc. may be added as you wish, but please avoid making your design too "monstrous."
Each demon has a general concept for their appearance, outlined below.
Murmur
Mumur has red-tinted skin, dark hair, and a muscular, masculine build. His horns should either be conical, as depicted in his current art, or similar to the shape of the horns on the First Anniversary award or Keratini—quintessentially demonic, without bearing resemblance to any one type of succubun horns. He has a warm, paternal personality.
Allocer
Allocer has blue-tinted skin, long pale hair, and a slender, androgynous build. Their horns are shaped like crescent moons. They have a mysterious, eccentric personality.
Gremory
Gremory has green-tinted skin, dark hair, and a curvy, feminine build. She has thorny, branching horns that aren't exactly antlers. She has a cruel, arrogant personality.
RULES
- Entries must contain a fully colored, full-body reference of your demon of choice.
- Please follow all of the Demon Design Guidelines listed above, including the required traits for each demon.
- Winners will be required to sign all rights to their design, commercial and otherwise, to Succubuns. Please do not enter if you're unwilling to sign over these rights.
- Designs may not be derivative of any existing characters or copyrighted material.
- You may use any 2D medium for your entry, digital or traditional.
- Art must be 100% your own—no bases, collaborations, or premade assets.
- Only one entry allowed per user—you must choose one of the three demons to design.
To enter, submit your demon design to the Ars Goetia Contest Gallery.
After posting to the gallery, you can submit your entry to the Ars Goetia Contest Prompt to receive your entry rewards.
