[Hana] Best in Show 2
Hops remembered that Hana actually had an imp with her, courtesy of another friend group that unceremoniously dumped the little thing on her. The barista remembered because it was hard to forget about it - every now and then her friend would rant about the Rabebe taking up space in her home. Recently though, it has changed to one of…tolerance? Dare she even say affection? It was a strange turn of events, that was for sure, but Hops never saw Hana as someone who could be mean to an imp for long, so she wasn’t entirely surprised.
“Do you think that Turnip will look good in cyan or orange?” Hana showed her phone, which was on a shop page that had two imp-sized ribbons on the thumbnails.
“What about you buy ‘em both?”
The starry bun made a face. “I’m not rich.”
“I know, you’re buying from Shopbun.”
“Okay even if I bought both, it’s not like anyone’s gonna visit the apartment. It’ll be a pain to keep changing the ribbon.”
“You can picture Turnip in both ribbons to show them off?”
“Mm, still annoying to change that ribbon, and it’s not like it trusts me enough to be touchy.”
“Like a real bunfriend, huh?”
Hana raised her glass, “Well, it’s more forgiving of me ignoring it for weeks compared to an actual bunfriend.” she then drank a big gulp of Hops’ Signature Drink, letting out a loud exhale. “If I did that to you–”
“I’ll never forgive you!”
“I know! Not gonna lie it feels like there’ll be a bigger chance you’ll ignore me instead.”
“Well, that’s not gonna happen. I’ll always make time to serve a drink to a friend.”
“Thanks, Hops.”
“Also to be truthful I think you should pick another color.”
“They have a bunch, wanna see?”

In the end, they couldn’t pick a color and settled for a rainbow one instead. As per Hops’ logic, why not have all of the colors on Turnip if one didn’t seem enough? Thankfully, there was a rainbow option and it wasn’t blinding, so it went to the cart and then bought without a second thought. It would take a few days for it to arrive, but once it did, it came in a plastic wrapped package that had way too many layers for a non-fragile item. Hana had to wrestle with it using a pair of scissors to get to the prize.
“Turnip, look what I got!”
Nowadays, the Rabebe was actually napping or chilling in some place that Hana could easily see. It wouldn’t exactly sleep right beside her or anything, but being in the same room without it hiding was a start, she felt. It only really approached her if she was holding the treat bag; otherwise, she was often acknowledged with a head nod or a stare.
This time around, the Rabebe was on top of the couch, waking up to Hana’s call and blearily looking at the ribbon. It looked like it had no idea what the ribbon was for and thought about going back to sleep, but when Hana approached it rather than leaving it alone, it narrowed its eyes.
“C’mon, you’ll look cute in this, trust me!”
Turnip was far from trusting at the moment, but then Hana made a u-turn and went to the kitchen. She quickly came back with the treat bag, which immediately got the imp’s attention. On its own accord, it hopped off the couch and towards the bun, who was opening the bag and bringing out a biscuit. Once the treat was handed to the Rabebe, she maneuvered around it to put the rainbow ribbon on the imp. Thankfully, the size seemed just about right and Turnip didn’t seem to mind so long as it got the treat.
“There we go!”
It was only once Turnip finished the biscuit that the ribbon was in full display, looking rather dapper on the bun-shaped imp. The Rabebe couldn’t touch it with its own nibbed paws, nor could it really see the accessory by looking down. Nonetheless, it was rather amused by the attention and had a rather chuffed expression. Hana proceeded to snap many, many photos from her phone.
Later that day, Hops would find her phone buzzing from notifications, only to find that it was flooded with pictures of a certain imp in a fancy rainbow bowtie. Guess she was going to be hearing about the little guy more often in their hangouts…not that she minded.
I'm a faster writer than an artist, whoops. Basically just expounding on the drawing I did.
