The Succubuns Art Gallery boasts thousands of pieces of artwork drawn by our amazing players. This month, we're challenging you to go one step further and create a three-dimensional succubun!
Toy Fair Crafts Challenge
For this challenge, you will be required to create a succubun toy or other 3D succubun craft in one of the mediums listed below.
All players who participate in the Toy Fair Crafts Challenge will receive 15 spools, 30 carats, and a Teddy Bear Mochi.
Please post a photo of your challenge entry to the Toy Fair Crafts Challenge gallery, then submit it to the Toy Fair Crafts Challenge prompt to receive your rewards.
The Toy Fair Crafts Challenge ends on September 30th.
Rules
- Your craft may depict your own succubun, an NPC, or another player's succubun (used with permission).
- You may depict your succubun in either bun or doll form.
- The succubun's colors should be depicted at least semi-accurately, unless working in a medium that cannot be colored/painted. You may simplify their markings and replace gradients with flat colors as needed, but it must still be recognizable as the succubun. Floating traits such as Star Motes do not need to be reflected in your craft.
- Your craft should be handmade in essence. While some mediums may allow for the integration of 3D modeling or pre-made figures or dolls, there must be a prominent element of hand sculpting or painting!
- Your craft should be made by you. You can get help from others more experienced in the medium you're working with, but they shouldn't make your craft for you.
- Your craft must be made for this challenge. Crafts that fit the criteria that were made before September 2024 are not eligible.
- One entry per player.
Peter's Bonus challenge:
15 spools not enough for you? Want to make the most beauiful bun sculpture ever seen? Peter's Bonus Challenge is for you!
All players who complete Peter's Bonus Challenge will recieve an extra 10 spools. Make sure to add the challenge event calculator to your submission if you completed it.
Challenge Requirements:
- At least one additional detail (not part of the main design) is handsculpted or created. This can be something like Shibani's rope accessories, Hops' bowtie, or Dan's hammer.
- At least 4 colors added by you in the piece. This means they need to be painted or added individually with colored clay, paint, etc. The base color of the material doesn't count.
- At least 3 WIP photos showing us different completion stages of your piece.
Mediums
Any of the following 3D mediums will be accepted for this challenge. If you have a question about mediums not on this list, please ask in the mod help channel of our official Discord server. (Please note that perishable mediums such as food are not eligible for this challenge.)
Low investment/Beginner friendly ideas
- Paper clay or air dry clay
- Soap carving
- Paper mache
Paper clay is very cheap and easy to use, allowing you to either sculpt with colored clays, or color your sculpture after drying with acrylic paints or even markers. This is our recommendation for players who don't have other materials!
Fibercrafts
- Plush
- Crochet
- Knitting
- Needlefelting
Feel free to use pre-made patterns, so long as all the proper succubun traits are reflected in the final product.
Sculpture
- Polymer clay
- Epoxy clay
- Ceramic
- Resin casting*
- Wood carving
- Wax carving
- Glass blowing
*If casting a figure, the base sculpt must fall under one of the following: 1) a unique sculpt you created from scratch, 2) a rabbit or humanoid figure sculpt that you have heavily modified with at least 1/3rd hand sculpted elements (succubun species features, hair, clothes, etc), or 3) a 3D printing of a unique 3D model created by you.
Hobby
- Toy/Doll customization*
- 3D printing**
- 3D Papercraft***
*If customizing a fashion doll or BJD, it must have a unique face-up done by you for this challenge, custom rooted/styled hair or wig made to match the character being portrayed, and handmade horns, rabbit ears, and tail. If customizing a figure or solid plastic toy, it must possess at least 1/3rd hand sculpted parts and be 100% custom painted.
**If 3D printing a digital model, the model must be 100% created by you, and the printed product must either be fully painted by hand, or handcast in another material like resin in order to count for this challenge.
***Please note that this does not refer to 2D papercraft made by layering flat paper, but to paper that has been cut, scored, and folded to create a 3D model.
