Casque's First Diligence(?)

"No"
"You did not let me finish my sentence" Dove pouted as Jackal choked on her coffee with a quiet laugh while Casque scowled into his cup of coffee.
"You know well how I feel about that Cherubun, Dove." He pointed out blandly and Jackal could easily tell by the furrowed eyebrows and scowl that Casque was holding his sharp tongue back for Dove's sake; and that Dove was pouting slightly.

"I do, Casque but he is one of my friends and he has asked for a small favor from you.....Some help with the gardening..." Dove trailed off as something seemed to click in Casque's mind
"....You mentioned to him that I like to garden, didn't you?" he sighed and buried his face into a hand at the sheepish smile on Dove's face.

"You can't be thinking of putting him through the 'Pursuits of Diligence' as that Cherubun calls it, angel..." Jackal was frowning as Dove turned their blue eyes on her with some surprise. "Dove....You know how their last meeting went....."

"What exactly does this 'Pursuits of Diligence' mean...What does it consist of?" Casque groaned out.

"Primrose teaches Diligence through helping in the Garden of Virtues with the plants. Apparently the Cherubuns have their own methods of cultivating the plants since they're so valued...." Jackal explained to Casque who only grumbled softly while rubbing the bridge of his nose as Dove stared at him with eager eyes.
"......On one condition, Dove."

"Anything!" Dove perked up and Jackal narrowed her teal eyes at Casque who stated that one of them had to accompany him. Jackal was immediately volunteered by Dove who stated they had other plans for the following week.

That was how both Envies ended up standing together with matching scowls on their faces several days later as they waited for the elevator to get to Burrowgatory to take them upwards. Their scowls remained plastered on their faces as they stepped inside the elevator. Once the elevator had arrived at Heavenly Embassy, they both schooled their faces and exited the elevator.

"....Let's find that prissy Cherubun then" Casque groaned as Jackal led both of them down the path toward The Garden of Virtues where Primrose would most certainly be located.

Once the two Envies had spotted the stuffy Cherubun, Casque called out while barely managing to keep his voice polite

"Primrose! Dove mentioned you needed my help in the garden?"
That caught Primrose's attention and he turned in their direction before beginning to walk over to the two Envies.
"That would be correct. I was informed that you are skilled in the garden. The Cherubuns are hard at work here but more help is always appreciated. Would that be any issue for you?"

Casque shook his head "Not really. I'm fine helping out as I do want to learn more about the plants grown here. I've only heard whispers among the buns I meet..." Primrose nodded at that before eying Jackal up then sighing. "Are you going to also participate, Jackal?"
Casque saw Jackal bite back her snarky remarks as she gave a firm nod. They were then led further inside the Garden of Virtues.

When they reached the shelves where the seeds were being kept, Casque immediately beelined to take a closer look while being mindful of their delicate state. Primrose hovered while Casque pulled the bags from shelves to read the descriptions and look at the photo of the seeds inside. Jackal watched him fret over the male Envy but appeared to be relieved that Casque made no motions to open the bags at all. Seems he understood just how important the seeds were to the Cherubuns.

"We did take out seeds for planting, it's in that small bowl over there. Come and we can start preparing the soil for seed planting." Casque wasn't even remotely surprised to see Jackal discreetly slip away while Primrose was distracted with him.

"Those seeds are glowing...." Casque pointed out "That is normal for those, yes?" Primrose nodded "Not all seeds glow. It depends on the flower it will bloom into, of course." The Cherubun grabbed the bowl full of seeds and led Casque to one of the rows of plots before kneeling down.

"I presume you already know how to plant those seeds with great care but I will demonstrate regardless" Primrose spoke as he grabbed a garden trowel from the basket and began to dig a small hole in the soil. One of the glowing seeds was carefully deposited inside the hole and Primrose covered it with the soil he had dug out before smoothing it over gently. The prissy Cherubun gestured to the second garden trowel in the basket for Casque to take and nodded toward the plot next row over.
Together, the pair carefully worked their way down the length of the rows, digging out holes, planting seeds and smoothing the soil over them. They got into a steady rhythm working together to finish the rows and their basket of seeds. By the time they were finished, it was getting late and Casque pointed out as much. Stating that he had promised Dove that he would have dinner with them and Jackal.

“Very well then. Thank you for coming up and assisting with the seeds. Do come back soon when you can and we can discuss the watering system that we use here.”
"That would be appreciated, Primrose. I will return when I have spare time to do so." Casque departed after that.

As he stood in the elevator, he sent Jackal a quick text message to inform her that he had just finished and would be on way over for dinner. He also thanked her for accompanying her up to the Heavenly Embassy even if he had ended up getting ditched but that had not bothered him as he had ended up surprisingly enjoying his time in the Garden of the Virtues.

Casque would have to do some rearranging of his schedule to balance both work, his personal life and the Heavenly Embassy, especially the Garden of Virtues, as he did genuinely want to learn more about the plants that the Cherubuns were rather accustomed to.
