A Sparkling Dance

Ballini and her studio always had a small performance yearly involving sparklers for Mochi Moon. It was one of her favorite times of the year and one of rare times where she could tolerate the crowds due to high energy that always accompanied the new year celebrations. She had always gotten swept up in the excitement and thrived for it. Her studio had always assigned her along with another dancer to work on the outfits and jewelry together while they choreographed the dance using the sparklers.

They all always practised with substitute thin wooden sticks as the head choreographer did not want to go through sparklers just to get the dance down and always made adjustments if their sharp eye noticed any movements what would pose a risk of harm to either themselves or their fellow dancers. The outfits were designed with the dance in mind as to flow beautifully with the fluid movements.

It had taken them few sketches to find the perfect outfit and there had been several arguments on the colours to use for the upcoming performance. Some wanted bright bold colours, others wanted dark colours while Ballini and her designer companion both wanted mainly dark with accenting bright hues. Ballini finally got her way when the owner of studio stepped in and pointed out that it would make more sense to go with Ballini's suggestion as she did design the outfits plus they had always done things like this. That had shut everyone up and had Ballini gloating to herself in victory.

They were currently in a building near the performance stage, getting ready. The dress was lovely pleated high waisted dress with ruffles skirt that flared out to the knees. There were ribbon straps and bubble sleeves. It was all in dark blue with sprinkling of white gems overlaying gradient of various colours in several layers. It looked stunning and perfect for the midnight sparklers performance. The dancers who refused the dress wore simple dark blue pants with ruffled top with similar colouring to the dress.
The shoes were the same for everyone: matte dark blue with satin straps in same colour. Everyone's hair were let down and curled into soft waves and a portion were pined back with bejeweled sparkle gem. Their ears and horns were all decorated in various chains and colourful gems to reflect the occasion. The studio owner had also insisted on the ears being down and loose. Then the bell rang out and everyone headed toward the clearing where they will be performing. Perfectly spaced out between themselves; they were all given a sparkler to hold. Taking a deep breath, Ballini waited for the music to start before they all started their performance by getting their sparklers lit then they began to twirl and move around themselves to start it out slowly. Soon they were throwing in leaps and spins. The bright sparkling colourful lights that the sparklers were emitting along with the movements from the dancers enthralled the captivated audience. Ballini smiled sweetly as she leaped into air before landing nimbly and spinning away. Her hand holding onto the sparkler moved through the air in graceful arc almost like painting a picture of the fireworks. As the sparklers began to fizzle out, the dancers leaped into a lovely twirl around before dropping to the ground in a graceful bow; their heads bowed to the loud applause from their captivated audience. With a small smile, they all rose in sync and took another standing bow before departing to chat with their studio owner who would then release them to mingle with everyone else and to enjoy the festive night.
