Winter Trail = Freign?

Ballini had found something rather fascinating in one of her books about imp and she had decided that she simply must have this imp, this odd antlered majestic creature that appeared at first snowfall. Ballini had just the perfect name to use. Probably. She wasn't totally set on it. Anyways the point is that it is an imp she really wants and thinks would be perfect companion for her cute Clara the Phloof and gorgeous Odette the Cygnette. So that was how she wound up looking through her closet for just the right clothing to wear in the frigid weather with the falling snow. It was absolutely important that she was appropriately dressed!

 

She despised pants but in this case it was absolutely necessary so thermal leggings was pulled on followed by warm trousers. She pulled on thermal long sleeved shirt followed by warm knitted sweater. Ballini had to sit down so she could pull on faux fur leg warmers over her trousers to cover her legs up to her knees. Thermal socks were slipped on followed by boots with trends at the bottom so she wouldn't slip all over the ice. Ballini grabbed a a very warm and fuzzy scarf to loop around her neck twice before following up with a long winter coat. Gloves were pulled on and the dancer doll hesitated at her reflection in the mirror before sighing and pulling on her hat; completely covering her greedy glassy horns.

 

"I hate wintertime" Ballini muttered as Clara made itself very comfortable inside the folds of her scarf and she knew the Phloof would NOT come out until they were back in the apartment again. Odette was rather comfortable and the doll knew the Cygnette was rather comfortable in the freezing weather. They then headed out of the apartment and Ballini immediately went towards the outskirts as they were the most forested and away from the bustling city. Plus they were covered in snow. What are the chances she might find the elusive majestic imp? Apparently not right away but she was not expecting to find one immediately. There were few trails once she got to the outskirts and she chose the one that was directed toward beginners because she had no desire to get lost thank you very much. It was also the trail that was most looked after with nicely salted path and lack of ice as well as plenty of signs. Odette flew on ahead and Ballini carefully followed the imp while being incredibly mindful of her footsteps. Thanks to having glassy legs, her feet tended to slip around a bit in her boots and it wasn't the most secure fit she has. Ballini desperately needed to replace her boots or at least put on anti-slip grip next time. 

 

As the greedy pink doll made her way down the winding path, she gazed around at the beautiful snowy scenery and the fluffy white cloaking on tree branches as well as the glistening everywhere. Winter really was a beautiful time of the year, if only it wasn't so cold or freezing! Clara snuggled deeper into her scarf and Ballini lifted a hand up to rub at its forehead with a small smile. 

"Don't worry it won't be too long before we're relaxing in our warm apartment again" she soothed the fluffy imp as she stopped in front of a lake with plenty of Cygnettes frolicking. Odette flew up toward Ballini's arms and fluffed up into them to preen their feathers. Chuckling, the doll continued on her way down the path. According to the sign with information on the trail, it would loop back to the entrance so she was  not too worried. 

 

However at one particular section where it was rather woodsy Ballini stopped because the remaining trail had gotten snowed over. She sighed deeply when she did not find any footsteps leading away either.

"Great, that must have happened recently" Ballini crouched to see if she can't brush away some snow but she stopped when she noticed something out of corner of her eyes.

A lovely magnificent creature on four hooves and antlers growing out of their head stood few feet away. That must be the elusive Freign.

 

"Oh my! You really are as majestic as Hutch's book describes" she smiled slightly in surprise. "Hutch would want me to try to interact with you but I just wanted to see you first then go home. You're not easy to tame right?"

The little Freign inched closer only to rear on its hind legs when Odette flew over to get closer look. The two imps stared at each other before Odette squawked and flew back toward Ballini who sighed.

"So sorry about Odette. Do you think you could help us find out way back? I would go back the way we came but I really want to finish this trail. Is that okay?" The Freign extended a front leg and lowered its head in a bow before trotting off on ahead. Ballini got to her feet and brushed some snow off before hurrying after the speedy Freign. 

 

The remaining trail really was just as stunning with more trees and open areas with small ponds as Ballini and her imps followed the freign out into the outskirts where Ballini had started from. She knelt down again and smiled at the mysterious imp

"Thank you so much! Would you like to come home with us? We have lot of really yummy treats!" she extended a hand toward the freign who nuzzled into it.

That was agreed upon then!
