MYO-613: Edith
EDITH
She/They
They appear quiet and sullen, but they enjoy camping in the woods, going on picnics or scavenging (sometimes it's food, trinkets, rocks, etc).
Sadly Edith developed commitment issues due to their upbringing with a neglectful caretaker who practices clear favoritism depending on appearance/behavior. Edith is self-conscious about accidentally hurting other buns with their claws/sharp nails, because there have been instances in the past. Even now, some Succubuns may be intimidated, espeially in their doll form, being very tall and brawny. She speaks softly and often times doesn't have a lot to say, so she's a decent listener.
Despite their past, Edith genuinely wants to form relationships, just not committed ones, at least until they're comfortable enough. She'll indulge in flings with other buns if she's comfortable enough with them, but she will often disappear to her home in the woods for days. But she can be found in any woody/forest areas, The Rabbit Hole (when it isn't too busy) or Pedigree Pets.
They haven't figured out what kind of occupation they want to try because they often feel like a bull in a china shop. They feel like anything they do will somehow go wrong.
But so far they work simple oddjobs for other buns; whether it's gardening, imp-sitting, cleaning around the Church of Sulfur, heavy-lifting or being a bodyguard for high-class/famous buns. Generally just little tasks. They get uncomfortable in crowded places, however they like feeling useful and will endure mild-discomfort for service and care as a helper.
Some backstory below!
CW: CA (neglect, physical/mental), bullying)
Thankfully it never got sexual, but there was plenty of physical harm. When one of them would act out, they got hit. If a bun tried to stick up for them, they were also hit. Since this was essentially a competition, it was against the rules to help others who are meant to fail by their own short comings. Only certain buns get the luxury and attention by doing whatever their caretaker said. Some would get a taste for it and become aggressive towards one another. Their caretaker was amused by their squabbles unless their supposed "favorite" of the month gets hurt. Edith tried to stay out of it.
Their caretaker would say a lot of nasty things and make them all feel guilty when they had nothing to feel guilty about. Some just wanted to be themselves, like Edith. She was never really given much positive attention. Their caretaker called them "Scraggly Molerat" from her claws, their unkept hair and playing in the dirt. The other litter mates singled her out too, mimicking their caretaker's scorn. But she didn't want to hurt any of her litter mates and kept her head down.
One day, when they were old enough, the official favorite had been decided. They boasted and flaunted their status among their littermates, even antagonizing Edith. Unfortunately they pushed Edith too far and she fought back. There was blood involved due to her claws. She was mortified and left, choosing to live on her own after that point. She didn't mean to hurt them, but it was high-time she left since they were old enough.
Now she has a hard time getting close with anyone because they either want to use her, change her or find any excuse to make her feel guilty for how she is from the expectations that were put on her.
