1. once was hero's entire universe, his bedrock and foundation, perhaps still is.  things are a little complicated between the two of them at the moment after aesop faked his death and was reborn as the wolf he is today.  aesop knows how much he hurt hero, but the truth is is that he really does love him in his own twisted way.  now, they can finally play the roles they were always meant to play — protagonist vs. primordial wolf, hero vs. villain.  aesop thinks they were meant to do this forever.  relationship status: it's extremely complicated, but they're soulmates.
