A Drink Between Rockstars
The roof of the Wonderland Casino was not a place often explored in most visitors time at its luxurious establishment. Most would dare to say an attempt at getting access to any part of the casino not under Angora's watch was a death sentence. But the empty bottles that littered the concrete encasing the upper ceiling of it's structure would beg that finding a way on top was so easy, a drunk could do it. Jackal being the drunk in question, threw yet another bottle off of the roof. Listening to the sound of glass shattering violently to the hard ground below.
If she knew any better, she would expect no visitors at this time of night, in this part of town, on this specific roof. But as luck would have it, that wasn't in the cards tonight. A sound of sharp clattering came from the ladder that led to the roof, and a soft grunting seemed to follow as the sounds of climbing came nearer and nearer. Jackal readied an empty bottle in hand, in the case she'd need to knock whoever was about to crash her quiet drinking session. When the figure finally crept over the top, any anxiety left and became replaced with confusion. "What the fuck are you doing here?"
Darlet huffed as he climbed over the last rungs of the ladder and landed on his stomach. A loud groan leaving his floor buried face, until he eventually pushed himself to his feet and pointed at Jackal with both hands. "You didn't invite me to the cook out! So I came by myself. I even brought refreshments." His back adorned a different accessory than his usual guitar. Instead he sported a thick rucksack, one that once opened revealed, surprise, even more liquor! Stronger bottles than the cheap beers that Jackal had been throwing back previously.
Jackal rubbed her temples with two fingers before throwing the bottle she had grabbed behind her. Managing to skim past the top of the roof's barricade, and drop down to the ground once more. The sounds of glass cascading over rough stone echoing through the dead air. "Well if that wasn't obvious. Let me rephrase, how did you know I was here? Did you follow me or some shit?" She was not too mad, how could she be when he came with peace offerings like those. But it wasn't like she advertised her location to anyone before coming to this spot.
"Uhh... Well. I kinda did? I saw you go into the liquor store and come out with more than one six pack. Means you were going somewhere that getting more beer would be a hassle." Darlet dragged the bag over to the spot Jackal had her belongings set up, plopping down to rummage through the sack for a bottle of his own. "Figure I'd go in and grab some of my own personal fave's, and follow your empty bottles to the spot. Plus I know the guys in front of the casino, and they said they heard glass breaking out back. So I figured you were here." He slipped a long green bottle from the bag, holding it up with one hand before twisting the cap and snapping the seal. "Uh, here. First digs to you for the cool spot. You can see the crystals on the ceiling of the cavern here really well." He held the bottle up to Jackal who seemed more impressed than anything at his tracking skills. Although she briefly cursed herself for drinking on the way there, that would be something she'd need to work on in the future.
"Look man. Next time you wanna party, why not just invite me to your place? Isn't it like, a whole frat house?" Jackal snagged up the bottle with little hesitation. The warm and woody liquid slid down easy in comparison to the warm beer she had been settling for until then. She looked back to the ladder, hoping that would be the last person to come up there for the rest of the night. "Plus, I know you're not gonna be able to get down safely after you drink this. I'm not gonna try and drag your ass off a roof while shitfaced." She held the bottle in one hand, placing her other on her hip expectantly.
Darlet stared at her with a bored expression, digging into the bag and pulling out a second identical green bottle of liquor. "You won't have to worry. I got a full room package at the casino. So whenever you're done, you can go and do whatever the hell you do, and I will be sleeping in a bed full of Angora fluffed pillows. Singing in the golden shower and getting my nails done by a nice lady that says mean things to me in a language I don't understand." He cracked the second bottle and dumped it into his open mouth with little regard. Streams of the brown liquid dribbling past his chin as he let the bottle empty down his throat. Eventually his eyes seemed to water, and he had to abruptly stop and choke on the lack of air that had forced him to gasp for his breath. "Fuck, why did I try that with the liter bottle."
Jackal rolled her eyes and kicked him in the leg hard enough to get him to stur. "Fine, whatever. Fucking idiot. Stop trying to show off and just be normal for once." She sat down next to him and drank from her own bottle. "This place is too expensive. I don't even know how you can afford to spend your time here, let alone gamble with Angora. I swear you waste all the carats you earn on dumb shit." She sighed, tugging at the pocket of her jacket. Fishing out a lighter and a pack of cigarettes. She looked at the pack in her hand for a moment before flipping the lid open and holding it out to Darlet. "Want one?"
Jackal's spot to drink changes occasionally. But when the new spot is the roof of the Wonderland Casino, sometimes unexpected company finds a unique way to pop up.
