Mixology 101 Prompt
Tsubaki watched as Hops moved behind the counter and motioned her to follow. She dutifully followed behind the other bun. Both were currently in their doll form as that would make it easier to mix the drinks for their bartender lesson.
Being a greed type, Tsubaki wasn’t normally the type of person to spend money on something like lessons. However, she believed that this would be knowledge that could pay off in the future. If she could use her drink mixing knowledge to open up her own bar, or even to make drinks at home cheaper than buying them, the lessons could theoretically pay for themselves and then some. This was more like an investment for her, and Tsubaki was determined to treat it as such. She needed to learn and remember as much as she could and therefore would pay attention to every single detail.
“Today we’re going to make some Sinnamon Whiskey,” Hops announced cheerfully as she pulled out various ingredients.
Tsubaki nodded in approval; she quite liked the taste of Sinnamon Whiskey and was pleased to learn how to make it for herself. “Alright, where shall we begin?”
“We start with a liquor glass,” Hops answered as she pulled out said glass. “It’s different from a wine or cocktail glass,” She explained, showing Tsubaki the other glass types so that she could familiarize herself. Hops classes were for everyone, even beginners who knew nothing about drinks, though most were already familiar with the basics, such as glass types. “We can’t make a drink if we have nothing we can pour it into.” Hops laughed.
Tsubaki took a liquor glass, making note of the glass differences. “Then what?”
“Then the whiskey, of course.” Hops smiled, gesturing to the bottle. “With a pinch of cinnamon.”
“I probably should have guessed that,” Tsubaki smirked, amused. Copying Hop’s actions, she poured roughly the same amount of liquor into the glass as her teacher.
“Now we have the last, but most important ingredient.” Hops pulled out a small pouch. “This is my secret ingredient. Unfortunately I can’t tell you what it is, but I can send you home with some as part of this lesson package. You’re also free to come buy some at any point.” Hops poured the pouches contents into the whiskey, and suddenly a small fire lit on top.
Tsubaki was a bit disappointed to not know the secret ingredient, but her attention was soon fully engulfed by the flames at the top of the whiskey. She wondered what in the world was in that secret ingredient that could cause fire, as well as all the other effects since Hop’s secret ingredient was in every drink as far as she knew. Perhaps when she was home she could study and try to figure out what was in it, but for now she needed to pay attention. Tsubaki took the pouch from Hops and poured some into her own drink, watching as the flames spurt to life. “Amazing… thank you for your guidance.” She smiled.
“My pleasure!” Hops smiled. “Now let’s continue our lesson by showing you the next drink…”
