Fashion, Baby | Spiritual Measurements
"Are you sure that nobody else can model this instead?" Bahem asked nervously, watching as Velveteen walked around him and pinned different fabrics together before sewing them into place. "I'm certain," Velveteen replied. "fewer succubuns would be comfortable modeling for this type of thing than you would think. Something about not wanting to disrespect the Church of Sulfur by pretending to be a priest. Bahem raised an eyebrow. "That... doesn't sound like something that would be a problem." Velveteen shook their head. "You would certainly think so, wouldn't you? Unfortunately for both of us, you're the only succubun I've talked to who was willing to wear this."
Bahem looked down at the clothing that was being put on him. It was much heavier than he was originally expecting, the intricate details of the fabrics merging together at points and separating at others. There were far more colors than he was expecting as well, almost an entire rainbow of dulled tones. "You know, I wouldn't have expected this to be what you meant by a Church Inspired outfit..." And it really wasn't- he had expected something a bit skimpier, and had fully imagined that Velveteen asked for his help because he was somewhat skinny- but instead, the clothes were extremely loose and covered everything from his neck to his ankles. His hooves technically peeked out under the fabric, so he didn't count that. "Peter wanted to focus on the beauty represented in the church building instead of the practices of the church, as is the reason for the intricate patterns across the piece."
"Oh, yes. It's meant to match the detailed decor and window framing of the church, yes? I noticed that, and with that in mind, I imagine the colors of the fabrics are to represent the windows' stained glass." Bahem mused. Velveteen seemed a little shocked at that. "You're...correct. That is the intention... you aren't like the others in the church, are you?" Bahem seemed confused- and perhaps a little bit offended. He knew that he was the odd bun out in a lot of cases, but he didn't think that Velveteen would be so outright with it. "What do you mean by that? I'm still a member of the church... I'd like to think that I'm not too much of a failure to them."
Velveteen looked up from where they were kneeling, pausing their work, staring directly into Bahem's eyes. "Do they call you a failure over there?" Their voice was intense. "W-Well! No!" Bahem lied. He did know of a few priests that labeled him as a poor excuse for a succubun let alone a priest, but he didn't want to worry Velveteen with such things. The lie seemed to calm them down, allowing them to finish a final stitch on the outfit and walk backward to admire the work. "Good. Because I meant that you're a better priest than half of them. The ones I meet don't understand anything outside of sinning. While that's the primary method of worship to Murmur, they disregard all of the passion and artwork that goes into the church building and the religious texts that fill the halls. Simply sinning is Succubun nature, sinning in the presence of art with the intent to go by passion and freedom is what truly makes it a religion instead of a normal club.
Bahem took all of this information in with a wide-eyed stare. He... really hadn't thought about it like that before. However, he didn't get enough time to absorb all of the information before Velveteen was dragging him across the floor by his hand, hooves tapping on the ground as he desperately tried to balance with approximately 20 pounds of fabric across his body. "However, the religion itself is not the point. Being a good model is more about the proportions of the body, Bahem. Though I originally decided upon you for your bodily proportions alongside your involvement with the church, your spirit has the perfect proportions for this piece of art as well."
He didn't understand. "Uh, Elaborate?" Velveteen nodded, they knew that the description of spiritual proportions was always a topic that didn't click well with fashion outsiders. "You understand this piece of work better than anyone else that I have talked to, and to properly model a piece is to know the impact that it can make, the passion that is put into it, and express the passion of the creator out on a stage." Though the priest still didn't entirely get it, he smiled- just happy to help someone out and be seen as different in a good way for once. "Now, we need to get to the stage, we're on in five minutes."
Velveteen began to walk to the door of the dressing room, but as soon as they let go of Bahem's hand, he was wobbling towards the door on uneasy legs. "Forgive me, Velveteen... I'm getting there, I promise." He whined, inching his way to the door. Velveteen looked at him, stumbling his way to the door, and sighed- though Bahem somehow knew that it was not directed at him specifically. Perhaps the biggest sign of that was the way they looked at the large draped fabrics as they exhaled. "Oh for sin's sake. I really will have to ask Peter to not add so many layers next time. Will you be okay for this show, at least?"
Bahem didn't exactly think so, but he would do it anyways.
