But she shouldn't judge. They had made a difficult choice, one to leave their homes to explore, to grow, to spread about the world of Burrowgatory. It must have been frightening, heart breaking even to leave behind friends and family to go to a place told to be the antithesis of what you were taught to believe...it must have been exciting. But most of all it must have been confusing.
From the very tips of their ears and toes they had so much in common and yet, so much that was different. Their lives, their surroundings, their beliefs, their morals. To come to a place that was so very different must have been a shock to them. The lifestyles of Burrowgatory were about indulgence in one's greatest desires, but for those from above it must seem like chaos. Ellie secretly wondered if they all thought it was worth it. She couldn't say she didn't understand though...
Some days she wanted to leave the confines of Burrowgatory, to explore the land of the demons and even the realms of the heavens. The sights and sounds and colors must have been so beautiful to see, especially if the bits and pieces she had seen were representative of the whole. This past year alone had brought about so many changes and so many different ideas and perspectives that had never been known before. It was unnerving at first but now she just wanted to know. She wanted to know about the worlds around them, know about their history, what soon followed, and what was to come. But more than learning, she wanted to teach.
It was a bittersweet thought, teaching other buns came naturally to her, living a life where you were able to help others grow meant the world to her, but at the end of the day even she was confined to the rules and regulations around her. She hoped that one day she could see those rules change, but now wasn't the time for thoughts like that. There was too much change for most to handle and she wouldn't wish for others to struggle as a result.
Primrose seemed to be a teacher in his own way, a kindred soul in the balance between belief and ability, but he was a bit more...particular about how he wanted to teach and why.
He had looked at her dismissively when she first came in, trying to shoo her out when she brought up the idea of her looking at the gardens up close and personal. The flowers were a delicate thing to behold, but the way they shined in the gardens was the talk of many. She wanted nothing more than to see them up close.
She pleaded her case solidly and with rules and strings attached. She would only assist under supervision, she would triple check all the proper protocols, and she would mind her form and make sure her feet never touched even a single fallen leaf. He had looked at her sceptically during her little speech, but ultimately he agreed under the condition that she arrive and depart promptly and with the understanding that should she crush even a single flower she was out of luck and out of chances.
Even with his words, while holding the seeds in her hands she felt a sense of trust from the other bun, reluctant as it was if the careful eye he kept on her meant anything, but trust none the less. Ellie had a feeling he was secretly a softie.
The flowers were truly precious things, holding a life in them yet to blossom, soon to be made into something even more beautiful and precious. He was trusting her and himself to do this right, to plant the seeds deep enough, water them just the right amount, and care for them with all the love and respect they deserved. If done right she would help the Cherubuns acclimate well and make a means for more of their ambrosia to be made.
As she stuck the trowel into the dirt, she felt a light sensation fill her. It was nice to be trusted with this, to be given the chance to help others grow, just as the seeds did in their own right. Not only that, but she had a feeling she made a friend in some small way, even if the other bun didn't feel the same. Companionship was important and precious few should be looked over for it.
