Quiet Smoke
"Ah are you heading out for the weekend again?" Charon turned around at the voice and frowned at one of the newer gardeners in his charge. The way that question had been phrased had a underlying tone of accusation to it which he did not appreciate and the younger employee slinked away at the look on his face.
"Master Wolfsbane has been so gracious to give us flexible schedule and you are accusing me of taking too much advantage of that. Watch your tone." His tone had gotten sharp as Charon narrowed his piercing eyes at the employee who apologized profusely before scampering off. Shaking his head as he headed off toward his dingy jeep he kept parked in the employee garage where he knew his imps would be. Charon had made one last round around the gardens to check everything and the employees prior to that unfortunate conversation. Luckily his imps had behaved themselves and Charon took off in his car along with his possessions for the weekend toward home.
But first, few stops were going to be necessary as he had been asked to check in on their wine supplier and Charon wanted to do a quick grocery shopping. Not to mention make a quick stop at a flower shop to check for potential flowers for the estate.
Running errands was fairly mundane with slightly changes such as Casque being distracted at The Envious Wines leaving Charon to deal with Basilio with some pleasure, the grocery store having long line and crowds of entitled shoppers, but he was more grateful for the flower shop being empty so he could be left to his devices to look over the flowers meticulously. Charon may not have bought any flowers or seeds but he did take lot of notes down in his notepad especially of few new species he had not seen before and spoke to the owner about them before making a promise to return in few days to purchase the seeds. Charon's mind had already began to whir with possibilities of arrangements in the garden and potential decoration to go with them.
By time he had finished all his errands, his limbs had began to ache a little and Charon slipped into a nearest alleyway that he had high hopes to be empty as he rummaged around in his pockets for two familiar items: a box of cigarettes and a lighter. When Charon cracked the lid open he swore at the sight of only two remaining inside the box. That meant a trip to convenience store was going to be a necessary so he could stock up on more. The Greed groaned as he plucked one out of the box and put the near empty box back into his pocket. Charon sighed softly as he brought the cigarette to his mouth and lit with his still working lighter before taking a drag out of it as he leaned against the brick wall in alley while gazing up at the slowly darkening rock ceiling. He was definitely getting home late.
"Oi. What are you doing in my alley?" A voice reached his ears and Charon turned his head to the side toward a Envy with long black hair and-
"Ah, Jackal was it? Apologies. I was craving a smoke and slipped into nearest alleyway. No trouble here." Charon politely responded, recognizing her from his errands around the city. Jackal looked surprised before approaching to lean against the wall across from him with a slight frown as she pull out her own cigarette to light up only to pause at lack of lighter in her pocket.
"Fuck" she swore before jerking up at sight of a lighter in her eyeline. Her teal eyes met Charon's orange eyes as she let him light her cigarette up.
"Thanks...I forgot my lighter at home it seems. Dove's not too fond of smoking"
"Cherubun?" Charon inquired and Jackal nodded. That didn't seem to surprise him as he had heard things around the city regarding the saintly species.
"....What's with the shackle and chains? Those are uncommon sight...." Jackal pried after a drag of her cigarette and raised an eyebrow at the quiet snort from Charon.
"Kink thing" Charon snorted once again at Jackal's surprised reaction to his blatant reply as he brought the cigarette to his lips while ignoring the coughing Envy. She'll recover from her shock. Charon frowned when he noticed he was nearly through with his cigarette. He shifted his balance and blew smoke out of his lips upwards while waving off the apology from the other.
"You asked. It is fine. It seems I'm out of my cigarette so I will be heading out. See you around" He nodded at her as he pushed himself off the brick wall and waved farewell to Jackal while his footsteps echoed through alley on his way to his car. Look like he had one more stop to go before heading home.
He hoped he would see Jackal around again; it was nice to share a quiet smoke presence with her.
