[ARIETTE] MIXOLOGY 101
Hops was busy cleaning off the bar top when Ariette walked into the cozy little bar. Upon noticing her, Hops exclaimed “Oh, hello there! Welcome to the Rabbit Hole!”
“Hello!” Ariette called back. “I’m here for your bartending class.”
A look of realization spread across the lavender-haired bun’s face. “Oh!” she exclaimed. “Come on back, then! Let me just finish wiping down the counter and we can get started!”
Ariette strolled behind the bar as Hops continued speaking, “There. So, what would you like to learn how to make today?” she asked, glancing up at Ariette.
“Hm, I’m not entirely sure. Although, I’d like to start with something simple. What do you think would be relatively easy to make?”
“Relatively easy, hm? Perhaps the draquiri?” she replied.
“Alright, that sounds fine with me.”
“Great, let me get everything we’ll need and I’ll set it all out on the counter.” And without another word, Hops began gathering the necessary ingredients and then turned around and set a cocktail glass out on the bar top.
“Okay,” she began. “First we’ll need to blend up the frozen strawberries.”
She tossed a cup of strawberries into the blender as she continued speaking. “Because the strawberries are frozen, we don’t need any ice for this drink. Neat, huh?” Ariette noticed her taking out a small purple bag with a little black bow and descreetly emptying the contents into the blender.
“What is that?” Ariette asked, pointing to the bag.
“Oh, that’s…” Hops smiled at her. “My secret ingredient. I can’t go giving away all of my trade secrets, can I?”
They both chuckled. After she had blended up the strawberries into a slushy mixture, Hops continued speaking, “Anyways, now we’re going pour 2oz of rum and the frozen strawberry mixture into this shaker.”
She handed the shaker to Ariette and allowed her to pour in the ingredients. After it was shaken thoroughly, she poured the contents into the cocktail glass on the bar top.
As Ariette was doing this, Hops cut a wedge into a fresh strawberry and slid it onto the rim of the glass.
“And there you have it! Pretty simple huh?” Hops smiled up at Ariette, who nodded in response.
“That wasn’t bad at all. Thank you for showing me how to make it.”
“You’re very welcome! Thank you for coming to my little class! Oh, and before you go…!” Hops called to her, “Take this.” And she tossed a small purple bag to Ariette, who caught it in her hands.
“Isn’t this your secr…?” Ariette began.
“It’s so you can make a draquiri at home!” Hops retorted, “Don’t question it!”
And before Ariette could respond, Hops swiped the draquiri off the counter and took a sip.
“Mmm, nice and frosty. See you around, Ariette!”
