Learning about flowers
As busy as his life was between his work and his extra time to feed that greed-driven vice of his, Carmelio couldn't help but be curious every time someone mentioned something about cherubuns and made him want to visit that embassy he had heard so much about lately. Even as he sat in his office at the moment, he couldn't help but stir that scarf of feathers he carried with a certain longing to see what such a... different place could offer according to what he had heard. Of course, the thought of abandoning everything that brought him pleasure in his life like gambling, jewelry and money quickly brought him back to reality but still, there was a voice inside him that he couldn't manage to quiet as he looked up at the ceiling of his office. "Come on, I don't think anything will happen just to go look... We have time" he said to himself, feeling his tail slowly wagging from side to side as he stood up abruptly from his desk, only to grab his hat to the side and almost run out of that office.
For a moment as he made his way to the place, he thought about backing out, but it was too late for that... after all, he was just a curious visitor, what was the worst that could happen? Being put to work in there? No, of course not, "That would be crazy" thought Carmelio looking at the ominous celestial embassy that loomed before his eyes. He cleared his throat with some nervousness. Even that flirtatious and confident attitude that he regularly had, had disappeared to give way to a cautious and nervous personality because of that place that at first impression for him was above all strange. It was the first time he thought he would ever see a place like that and above all, it contrasted greatly with the Burrowgatory where he had lived all his life. He swallowed nervously as he took a deep breath, only to finally enter.
Almost as if he was entering a dark cavern, he had closed his eyes as he walked through the doors, expecting some kind of strange situation or sensation on the other side. But, to his surprise, nothing strange had happened, maybe it was just his irrational fear or paranoia of the unknown... or maybe it was some fear of the "redemption" he had heard about. Of course, nothing bad happened and he walked with a little more confidence into that embassy looking in awe at the place. It was beautiful, even demure if you asked him, a word he learned only recently. The white, gold and pink was a color combination he hadn't seen in a long time and somehow that place even felt slightly cooler than the general temperature in the burrowgatory. "I-it's...Nice" he muttered to himself under her breath looking for some succubun there as well, or maybe one of those much mentioned Cherubuns just for the sake of meeting them and maybe to his good or bad luck that day, he would have come across a rather interesting one soon after.
"Ahem... can I help you with something?" It was a soft voice, gentle perhaps, but seemingly judgmental. Carmelio better than anyone could tell when someone spoke looking down disparagingly at someone else and he couldn't help but be offended by it. He turned around with a frown wanting to claim that but was speechless when he saw that Bun. Sure, he must be a Cherubun. He could tell by that neat appearance, beautiful clothes and halo hovering above his head... perhaps the lack of horns and demonic tail also said enough. "Ex-excuse me, I... Ehm... just, I wanted to see ther place?" Said slightly nervously Carmelio who although all his life was someone overbearing, somehow couldn't help but feel intimidated at something totally new and different from what he was used to seeing. Already the embassy and the size of the place made him feel small, much more that presence that seemed to see himself above him. "Uhm... you are not the first, several... succubuns usually come lately to see ther sacred land, it is good to see what they take a break from sin to enjoy a sanctuary like ours." With that ther Cherubun seemed in a slightly better mood, it seemed that talking about heaven and that embassy pleased him. "My name is Primrose, may I know yours?" ther question made Carmelio feel slightly calmer, as he tried to smile at that other bun. "Carmelio... do you think, would I mind if you show me around?" he asked with some embarrassment, and although for a moment he received a raised eyebrow from Primrose, he would accept.
That walk to show him the site would not have lasted long, but they would have stopped when they reached the gardens of that embassy. Gardens that would have left Carmelio with his mouth open at the sight of such beautiful plants. Something inside him stirred at the sight of such beauty accumulated in one place, he could almost feel himself trembling slightly with the need to take some of them home. But somehow and like something that had never happened before, he resisted that temptation, only moving a little closer to see them up close. his pupils almost dilated as He gazed at those flowers that glowed with a sense of divinity. "I see you especially liked the flowers... they are extremely precious, aren't they? We use them to make ambrosia. They are quite delicate, though. I'd appreciate it if you didn't touch them too much... or if you didn't touch them in general." For a moment He seemed to roll his eyes as He said the last of his sentence, though by that time Carmelio had grown accustomed to that attitude to look wide-eyed at Primrose. "Do you think... you can show me more of these flowers? I've never seen anything so beautiful before. They bring me, somehow nostalgic to see them" that sentence of Carmelio slightly confused Primrose, but He would not refuse to teach that sinner about a small part of the beauty of heaven, which were those flowers in his heavenly garden. So, with a smile He would have approached, beckoning him to follow him to another part of the garden with a kinder expression. "Come, over here there is a part that is not cultivated yet... I had pending to do it, so we can take advantage of the moment and I'll show you from scratch" and with that said, they both walked to that pot where there was only soil. "Oh, at the end if they will put me to work... how ironic." Carmelio thought to himself as he knelt down in front of that pot just as Primrose did.
"You see, taking care of these plants is not simple, they require great diligence since you must be constant in their care, and very careful during their sowing. The seeds are especially delicate, but they are beautiful too." Explained that bun, noticing how Carmelio seemed to really pay attention to what he was saying, making him feel... heard. He would have shown him the seeds in his hand, small white ones with light blue speckles. "These in particular are of a variety similar to roses, only they possess a beautiful white color and an ethereal blue glow that they acquire as they bloom." Explained that Cherubun, as he carefully handed the seeds to Carmelio to plant one by one using some gardening tools he would have borrowed temporarily. It would have been a bit clumsy at first, but he soon picked up the pace making Primrose smile at how careful Carmelio seemed to be. "Remember to cover them with ther special soil here, it's a mixture of compost and nutrients that the flowers need to grow properly. Then you place normal soil on top and carefully water them. Remember not to water them too much or you could drown the plant, although for the first time I do recommend that you moisten the soil well" Primrose smiled at the dedicated and careful work that the other was doing, although when he remembered that he was a mere sinner he would have returned to his usual judgmental face.
"I think that's it..." murmured Carmelio looking at that pot with a certain pride, he felt happy even though now his hands were full of dirt. "That wasn't so bad, that's the first part... Now come with me ther way, it is necessary to give daily care to the ones that have already been planted for a long time". When they both arrived, Primrose could only see Carmelio again almost on top of the flowers amazed by their brightness and beautiful appearance, as a Succubun of greed that never repressed that vice it was hard for him not to have that instinct to take a flower and just take it away, but he still kept resisting, just delighted with seeing them. "What kind of care do they have once they have bloomed?" asked Carmelio as he watched Primrose carefully take a watering can and pass it to him, though curiously he had given his several small pots and bags with some kind of soil or powder. "Those are all nutrients and medicine to keep the flowers from getting sick. They are only applied once a week but they are extremely important to make sure the flower stays healthy until the day it is prepared in the ragweed. Look, I'll tell you how much of each thing to put in and then you just have to water them like you would normally water a flower." After that explained, they would have spent a considerable time in that place caring for and watering the flowers, until practically the whole afternoon would have been spent with Carmelio learning about all the care they had. Even what they did if any of the flowers got sick or started to dry up.
Somehow, when it was time to leave, he felt strangely fulfilled. As if somehow, that time he had spent learning about those flowers had resulted in doing something... by simply helping others.
Carmelio found himself a new hobby.
Also, just a little reminder that English is not my language, so, I use a translator for this.
