Operation Bun
"Why do I have to do this?" the envy bun said from the couch as she finished her cigarette.
"Don't be like that, Jackal…" Dove's soft voice carried a gentle plea as she looked at the doll. "I'm sure it'll be fun!"
Dove held out a delicate hand to Jackal, her eyes shining with compassion.
"I know this isn't your usual scene, but Mercy really needs help," she spoke softly, her words carrying a weight of sincerity that seemed to tug at Jackal's hardened exterior.
Jackal flicked the remains of her cigarette into an ashtray, the ember glowing briefly before fading into darkness.
Her gaze softened as she glanced at the cherubun, her usual tough facade momentarily shattered by the gentleness in Dove's eyes. She sighed heavily, the weight of her inner conflict palpable in the still air of the room.
"I don't know, Dove," Jackal began hesitantly, her voice hoarse with uncertainty. "I... I'm not cut out for this kind of thing, Dove," she murmured, her voice full of uncertainty.
Dove moved closer to Jackal, a soft smile lighting her face as she reached out to gently touch Jackal's arm. The air in the room seemed to shift, carrying with it a sense of understanding and compassion that enveloped the two buns.
"I'm sure you will surprise yourself, Jackal," Dove's words carried a gentle reassurance, her touch warm against the envy bun’s arm.
Jackal swallowed hard, feeling a mixture of apprehension and gratitude swirl in her chest.
"Fine..." Jackal relented, her voice barely above a whisper as she resigned herself to the task at hand.
Dove's eyes sparkled with gratitude, a soft smile playing on her lips as she gently squeezed Jackal's arm.
"Great, let's go!" Dove exclaimed with a bright smile, her eyes reflecting the genuine excitement bubbling inside her.
---------------------
"No one told me I had to wear this..." Jackal muttered to herself, eyeing the frilly habit hanging on a hook in front of her. The delicate lace and soft fabric seemed to mock her, a stark contrast to her usual rough and rugged attire.
She hesitated, feeling a wave of discomfort prickle her skin as she reluctantly picked up the garment. The soft fabric felt strange against her calloused fingertips.
"I'm sorry, Jackal, but this is protocol," Mercy's voice cut through the air, soft but firm. "It's the only way we can control the flow of volunteers. "
Jackal let out a sigh, her fingers gliding tentatively over the delicate lace of the nun's habit. The soft fabric felt strange, a stark reminder of the unfamiliar territory she was about to enter. She could feel Dove watching her, her eyes filled with a mixture of encouragement and understanding.
The cherubuns presence brought a sense of calm to Jackal, her gentle demeanor like a soothing balm at her nerves.
"I know this is too much for you, but believe me when I say I'm extremely grateful for your help." Mercy's voice was sincere, carrying a weight of gratitude that reverberated through the dimly lit room.
"Hum...whatever," Jackal muttered, her voice a mixture of resignation and feigned defiance as she reluctantly donned the nun's habit.
Dove and Mercy exchanged a glance and a knowing smile before their attention shifted back to Jackal, who stood awkwardly in the nun's habit, feeling completely out of place.
"What now?" Jackal asked with a sullen expression.
Mercy clasped their hands together, a gentle smile with a hint of amusement playing on her lips as she addressed Jackal.
"Well, we'll start by introducing you to the little ones and the other volunteers," Mercy said with a warm smile as they began to lead both the succubun and the cherubun down. "And there are many chores to be done around the Bunnery, such as bottle-feeding the babies, playing with them, or rocking them to sleep,"
As they walked through the corridors of the Bunnery, the scent of spring blossoms filled the air. The soft glow of the lanterns in the walls illuminated their path, casting soft shadows on the walls as they made their way to the nursery area where the baby bunnies were kept.
"So, are you ready to have some fun?"
Mercy's voice carried a warm invitation as they opened the doors to the nursery area where the baby bunnies were kept.
---------------------------------------
The nursery area of the Bunnery was a sight to behold, filled with rows of cozy nests where baby buns snuggled up for their naps and a soft and safe area for them to play and explore under the watchful eyes of volunteers.
Jackal stood in the kitchen area, feeling completely out of place as she prepared a few bottles of formula to be distributed. The sweet smell of warm milk surrounded her, mingling with the subtle sounds of contented coos coming from the main area.
It was lunchtime at the nursery, and the area was buzzing with activity as volunteers scurried around tending to the needs of the baby buns.
So far, her experience had been a mixture of discomfort and curiosity, but Jackal couldn't deny the tiny spark of interest that flickered within her as she observed the tender interactions between the volunteers and the baby buns.
"Here we go..." the envious bun said, handing a bottle to Dove, who was carrying a small bundle in their arms.
"Thank you, Jackal." Dove said with a soft smile, accepting the bottle and carefully adjusting the little bundle in her arms.
The little bun nestled against Dove's chest had fur the color of spun gold with delicate white patches on their paws, its tiny nose twitching as it nuzzled against Dove's warmth. Jackal watched in silence, her usual hard exterior melting away to reveal a softness in her eyes as she watched the tender scene before her.
Jackal watched the soft curve of Dove's smile as she cradled the baby and prepared to feed it. The way Dove's eyes sparkled with warmth and care made Jackal's chest tighten with a strange mix of emotions.
Dove rocked the baby gently in her arms, a soft smile playing on her lips as she cooed soothing words. The little one’s eyes fluttered closed, a look of contentment washing over their tiny face as they were fed.
"Would you like to try?" Dove asked, looking up at Jackal with a gentle smile that held a hint of encouragement.
Jackal hesitated, her usual tough exterior faltering momentarily as she looked at the baby in Dove's arms. For a moment, her rough exterior cracked slightly as she watched the tender interaction between Dove and the small bundle of fluffiness.
Jackal's gaze softened as she observed the peaceful scene. The little bun in Dove's arms looked so fragile and innocent, a stark contrast to the harshness of Jackal's own personality.
Dove noticed the shift in Jackal's demeanor and offered her a warm smile.
"Ok...I guess...." the envy bun agreed, her voice hesitant as she tentatively reached out to take the bottle from Dove's hands. A soft warmth seemed to radiate a sense of peace and innocence that Jackal found both foreign and strangely comforting.
As Jackal held the bottle in one hand, Dove gently helped guide her on how to position the baby bun for feeding. The soft fur of the little one felt impossibly delicate against Jackal's fingertips, a stark contrast to the rough calluses filling her hands.
Her heart fluttered with a strange tenderness as she watched the baby eagerly latch onto the bottle, tiny paws trying to grasp at it with determination.
"That wasn't so bad, was it?" Dove's eyes sparkled with pride as she watched Jackal tentatively feed the baby bunny.
"I guess not..." Jackal repeated softly, her voice barely above a whisper as she continued to feed the bun.
Dove watched with a soft smile, their eyes shining with pride and affection while observing Jackal's tentative but caring gestures.
