Peach Hell-ini
"So first, we'll be combining some peach and other fruits together in water."
The bar was empty, save for the pair of dolls hanging around behind the bar. It seems after a busy day, Lyle was still going out of his way to improve his skills. What a comedic pair; the ever chipper Hops and the pessimistic Lyle behind one bar together.
As Hops mentioned the instructions, Lyle followed obediently. For now, it meant scooping peach and some other fruit into the blender, filling it with water and letting the machine roar to life. As he did so, Hops reached into the bar's mini fridge to get out the alcohol and glass as the mixture went in.
"And then it's as simple as pouring it in, mixing a bit of alcohol and we're all set!" Hops smiled, happy to offer him help with the simple recipe. "I also have a special something I like to mix in but I'll pour that in myself."
"It's not poison, right?"
His flat tone didn't have any hint of joking, but Hops still got a laugh out of it.
"No, just something extra to go with the champagne."
Honestly, it would take a try or two. It was obvious that cooking - or in this case, blending - was not a normal part of his routine. Usually it's just delivering the food that was already made and cleaning up the mess that came after.
So it was little surprise to him when the first two times he attempted to blend, he made small mistakes. Too much water in the first, making it a watery mess. Fortunately, Hops took it as a drink herself, like a peach juice. The second time, not enough water, making it a chunky mess. Hops decided to throw some water and blend it again into a peach slushie for Lyle.
Third time is the charm, and with a little extra help with Hops the blend came out perfectly for the drink. While he doesn't like showing it, there was a glint of pride in his eye when Hops gave him a nod and a thumbs up of approval.
Together, they mixed together to peach purée, champagne and Hops' secret ingredient and with that...
"Voila! One Peach Hellini!" Hops presented it excitedly as Lyle stood on in silence. "We have a few more to get through, but if you have time, they shouldn't take more time than that."
Lyle sighs softly. Tonight is going to be a long night it seems.
