Tea and a Shawl???
Jackal had unexpectedly stopped by the bookstore one day while Adelaide had been in middle of cleaning after a teaching session and she had been pleasantly surprised to see the surly envy visit.
"OH! Jackal dear, what brings you by for a visit?"
Jackal scratched the back of her neck awkwardly "Ah......It's Dove. They wanted to invite you over for some tea party....." She handed over a small card with all information for Abby to look over
"Oh! I'd be delighted to." Abby smiled sweetly as she scanned the card with the address, the date and time as well as what to bring. "Will you be there?"
"....They wants me to be but I don't know....Tea aren't my thing...." Abby frowned at that
"You prefer more bitter flavours and coffee yes?" Jackal nodded "I'll bring something for you to try." Abby was adamant in that as she knew there were some tea blends that were more along the lines of coffee with lot less caffeine. Jackal had attempted to protest but Adelaide had insisted on it, saying that there were several tea blends along her preferences and perhaps she could indulge in Dove's tea time with her own tea? Jackal had relented to that logic.
When Abby had shown up to the apartment door three days later with her usual bag in tow full of her projects, yarn, snacks and some tea; she was very much ready and eager for this tea party as Abby had found Dove rather endearing. Abby had scoured her tea pantry and found several black and pur'eh tea blends for Jackal to try as she had found them to be similar to coffee. Perhaps that would help incline Jackal toward tea with Dove more often? The greed doll knocked firmly on the door and waited for the answering from either envy or cherub bun inside. She was not surprised to see the cheerful sweet pale blue cherubun open the door and smile brightly at her.
"Oh! Adelaide you came! Please come in~" Dove stepped aside to let her in and Abby had to chuckle lightly
"Oh Abby is fine. Really any nickname is good" she tried to reassure Dove who shook their head. "Please, Adelaide, come! We just set up the table and kettle is boiling!"
"Perfect. OH!" Adelaide rummaged in her tote bag and pulled the small box of tea blends out "I brought those over for Jackal as those are similar to coffee that I'm aware she loves." Dove blinked as they took the box before smiling "You're very kind. Thank you. Please sit." They gestured Adelaide toward the dining room as they headed to the kitchen.
When the envy walked into dining room, they spotted Jackal with her chin in a propped up hand scowling slightly only to relax significantly at sight of her.
"Oh you actually came."
"I did. Gave Dove the tea blends I promised you" Adelaide took her seat beside Jackal as Jackal looked surprised at that. The snacks Adelaide had brought along had been pulled out and set on the dining table. Upon opening the tin lid, it was revealed to be sugar cookies that seemed to be flavoured in sakura blossoms. "Sakura flowers? How?"
"Last year I harvest a large batch and dried all of them for usage in my baking" Adelaide chuckled at the surprised look on Jackal's face "I love using them in my sweets, they're floral, slightly bitter and delicious especially with nice steaming cup of hot drink."
"Oh I look forward to trying those!" Dove chimed as they brought in two tea pots and set them on the table.
"The blue and white one is the almond oolong and the amethyst and gold is the jasmine pur-eh" they pointed out as they took their seat "Let them steep for a bit..." Dove added while reaching for one of cookies Adelaide had brought along as Jackal looked impressed at the teapots. "You actually brought those blends over? Shit I'm impressed."
Dove cleared their throat with an amused smile and Jackal flustered slightly as Adelaide giggled to herself.
The cherubun leaned over to pour the tea into each cups; jasmine pur'eh for Jackal and almond oolong for Abby and themselves. A quick splash of milk was all Abby needed for her tea while Dove favored a spoonful of sugar.
"Thank you so much for coming, Adelaide. It is so lovely to have company come over and enjoy some tea and sweets with me~" Dove sounded so happy that Jackal had to crack a small smile as Adelaide nodded
"Of course! I am always happy for any opportunity to see you. You have been adjusting well to Burrowgatory?" Her curiosity was evident as Dove nodded
"Jackal has been tremendously helpful with that!" Jackal glanced up with a nod then her eyes slowly wandered toward Adelaide's direction with eyebrows raised.
"Jackal's quite experienced with helping the other envy adjust so she was able to share some tips with me for the cherubuns. Of course there are some big differences between both groups but I have been able to take those tips and put them forward! You have heard of Primrose and Beanny yes?"
"Ah the Heavenly Embassy and the Paradise Cafe? Of course. I've yet to stop by but I have heard wonderful things." Jackal's eyebrows furrowed in deep thought as Dove and Adelaide continued discussing their adjustment to society and Cherubuns before Jackal finally spoke up
"Are you fucking knitting right now?" Jackal was bewildered as Adelaide glanced down
"Oh yes. I tend to do that. My apologies. I was just about done anyways." She stood up and proceeded to drape the beautifully done lacy white shawl around Dove's shoulders.
"There. A little gift for you~" Adelaide smiled kindly and Jackal's jaw dropped in pure shock as Dove squealed in delight.
"Oh thank you! This is beautiful! I will treasure this." Adelaide smiled with pride. A perfect gift for the tea party.
"Oh don't you worry too much, Jackal. I do plan to make you something at some point."
"I'll....pa-...Thank you." Jackal changed her sentence at The Look from Dove.
