The "Wonderland Whirlwind Cake"
Hops wiped the counter of the Rabbit Hole, her bar adjoining Wonderland Casino. The bell attached to the bar door rings which catches the Hops' attention. Quince, the lively owner of Pedigree Pets, strolled in, her cheerful presence filling the room. Hops greeted her with a warm smile.
"Hey, Quince! How are you? What brings you to the Rabbit Hole today?" Hops asked, setting a freshly cleaned glass on the shelf.
Quince grinned. "Hi Hops! I'm fine! I had one idea yesterday and I thought we could try something different today. It's not about mixology but how about we bake a cake together?"
Hops' eyes lit up with excitement. "That sounds like a blast! I'm not much of a baker, but I'm up for the challenge."
They gathered the ingredients and moved to the small kitchen at the back of the bar. Hops noticed a recipe book on the shelf and pulled it out. Quince, on the other hand, was already eyeing the assortment of ingredients with delight.
"Let's make a chocolate fudge cake. What do you think?" Quince suggested, her eyes gleaming with enthusiasm.
Hops nodded in agreement. "Sounds delicious! Lead the way, chef."
As they started measuring and mixing, the kitchen filled with the rich aroma of chocolate. Laughter and conversation flowed as they worked side by side. Quince, with her natural culinary skills, expertly guided Hops through the steps.
However, as the batter went into the oven, a mischievous twinkle appeared in Hops' eyes. "How about a dash of cinnamon to spice things up?" she suggested, holding the spice jar.
Quince hesitated but then shrugged. "Why not? Let's make it interesting!"
Little did they know that this impromptu decision would lead to a culinary catastrophe.
As the cake baked, the scent of chocolate and cinnamon filled the air, promising a delightful treat. But when they opened the oven, their excitement turned into bewilderment. The cake had risen unevenly, resembling more of a chocolate mountain than a delectable dessert.
Quince tried to stifle a giggle, and Hops burst into laughter. The cake might not have looked appealing, but the joy of the experience outweighed any disappointment.
"I guess we got a bit carried away with the cinnamon." Hops said between laughs.
Quince wiped away tears of mirth. "Maybe a tad too much! But hey, let's give it a taste. Who knows, it might be a hidden gem!"
They carefully sliced the cake, revealing its gooey interior. With cautious expressions, they took a bite. To their surprise, the combination of chocolate and an unexpected burst of cinnamon created a unique flavor that was strangely delicious.
"It's... interesting," Quince remarked, a playful glint in her eyes.
Hops grinned. "A masterpiece of chaos, but I wouldn't call it a failure."
As they enjoyed their unconventional creation, the kitchen became a place of shared laughter and camaraderie. They decided to name it the "Wonderland Whirlwind Cake" — a tribute to the unexpected twists of their baking adventure.
The chaotic duo decides to invite friends to taste their new creation, the "Wonderland Whirlwind Cake". This night, Shibani, Harley, Holland, and Hutch join them at a table in the Rabbit Hole. The quirky cake, now adorned with a dusting of powdered sugar, took center stage. Hops prepared some drinks to accompany the cake while Quince told the story and the birth of their original cake.
Shibani explained that he also created a new cake with Quince the other day because he missed a pumpkin pie. Harley and Holland swallowed their Hopscotsh wrong and coughed with laughter.
"How tasted the pie? Was it delicious?", asked Hutch. Quince noded. "It was so good that I would like to make it again to let y'all taste it." Harley stood up with a drink in her hand. "We just have to do this again right!". Holland grinned behind his gag. He remained silent but approuved like the others. Quince was delighted to see that her friends were ready to test the pumpkin pie that she and Shibani had also created by accident.
This is how laughter and conversation filled the air as the friends savored each bite of the "Wonderland Whirlwind Cake". The unexpected combination of chocolate and cinnamon became a topic of animated discussion, and soon, everyone was sharing stories of their own culinary adventures.
I've mentionned a old story about Quince and Shibani (https://succubuns.com/gallery/view/18079) I wrote too.
