[PROMPT] Booze and Booty
Damon was off work. It's not uncommon for him not to be at the bar, but usually he is always tied up with paperwork or some shocking repair based mess. They had enough people in tonight that even if it got 'busy' by his bars standards, they would be able to manage without him. He isn't really used to the spare time, and he spends most of the middle of the day loitering around the city. He finds it hard to describe but everything is always less peaceful to him during daylight. He figures he may do the one thing he rarely does anymore, and get a drink. One not made by him, preferably.
It clicks in his mind as he walks that the bar adjoined to the wonderland casino is open. He doesn't go often, but Ignition does and he has heard the stories of how the nights flip-flop. One night its dead quiet, not disimilar to his own bar, and others its so packed you can't even get a drink in a timely manner. As the older bun walks towards the entrance he notices a lot of noise inside. He gets the feeling it's one of those 'packed night' cases. As he enters, he can barely see the bar over the amount of people in here and honestly this is kind of the exact type of stress he was supposed to avoid tonight. However, as he shuffles towards the front by the bar he notices a girl rushing around frantically. Ah, Hops. Ignition has described her a few times, but Damon has never interacted with her much. Maybe once or twice. As she turns around to drop off a drink she locks eyes with Damon for a split second, and time slows.
"Look I know this is like, incredibly out of pocket but do you think you could help a gal out? I'm swarmed back here."
Damon raises an eyebrow, Unsure how Hops even knows that he's in the same business she is. Upon seeing his skeptical look Hops sighs as she continues shuffling around behind the bar.
"You're that old guy Ignition is always talking about, aren't you? He said you owned a bar, If anyone in this crowd is able to help right now its probably you, so..."
He snorts a small puff of air and shakes his head. "I see my reputation precedes me." He stated dryly, but he wasn't unwilling to help the poor girl. After all, This is certainly a busy night and he hasn't got anything else planned but taking a nap. Begrudgingly, he moves through the remaining people and slips behind the bar, tossing his jacket halfheartedly over the flap-door and rolling up his sleeves.
"Oh, Uniform! I think we have some spare-" Hops began, her mouth running faster than her movements.
"Yeah if you think i'm changing, You're dreaming. I'm gunna help you out, I'm an old crone and i dont imagine anybody wants to see me in that." Damon scoffs at the notion
"First of all, nothing wrong with silver foxes. Second of all, Come on its like. Bar policy-"
"I will put on the neckpiece to make you stop talking, That fair?" He sighs, finally being worn down to actually give in to some degree. Hops tosses a neckpiece at him and nods.
Damon does note that this is a rowdy crowd, and that probably isn't helping with the stress. He sets to making drink at a good pace but a few too many of the patrons seem to be yelling right in front of them, most of them for Hops. Oh the curse of being popular, Damon does not envy her position but he's sure she isn't bothered by it.
"Listen, Guys, She's trying to do her job so if you could lower your volume that would be appreciated. We can hear you just fuckin fine." Damon said firmly as he walked past the louder voices.
Damon found his own natural rhythm within Hops' own bar domain. It was a little tricky to adjust, for both of them, to working with a new person but they managed rather well considering the zero amounts of practice runs. It must have just been the time of night, or perhaps a natural rush-hour kind of scenario, but over time the intense crowds died down. The later it got, the quieter it became. It was nowhere near as empty as what Damon was used to, but he can hardly complain. Comparing THIS to earlier? They may as well be fishing on a dead lake right now. He ran a hand through his hair and stretched briefly.
"Thank you. For helping me. I know it wasn't really a fair ask." Hops leans back against one of the counters, Surprisingly she DID look like she felt a little guilty. Damon snorted, and chuckled softly.
"Havent been pushed that hard since i was a little younger, But it's not a problem, I didn't have anywhere else to be tonight...Luckily for you"
Hops beams "I guess it really was lucky wasn't it? Maybe i should get that as a tattoo somewhere or something...."
"Yeah yeah, You're welcome kid, I'm gunna abandon you now before it kicks up again randomly and i'm here until six am." Damon rolled his eyes, placing the neckpiece back on the counter and taking his coat off the floor from where it had fallen during the rush.
"Before you go!" Hops turned back around and then came back with a Sinnamon Whiskey in hand.
He raised an eyebrow "Curious that you would pick this drink."
"You'll never guess who mentioned it to me~"
"Is your memory always this good?" He questioned and she shakes her head with a soft laugh.
"It's dependant." She hummed and Damon takes the drink, Downs it in one go and slips some carats on the counter.
"You don't have t-"
"For the sake of your job and your tab, I'll pay for this one, It is why i came in the first place after all." Damon waved a hand dismissively at her discontent.
"Thank you!"
"Take care kid, Don't let me catch you in this kind of mess again, right?"
