Landlord of Mothlight Bounds

Allegedly ex-bounty hunter (secretly still does it on the side) who is the landlord of a few rental properties. There are a few long-term residents, but many of his guests use rental spaces like love motels.
Aquilla is also a BunDun shareholder, like Sajjita and Freesia, but he is not one of the original investors.

Aquilla may come across as more aloof or brooding than he means to be. It's not that he dislikes company. He's just not accustomed to the lighthearted scenarios he finds himself in lately. He tries to be nicer sometimes but struggles with trauma-based apathy. And because he assumes his scars make him undesirable for various sorts of relationships, he claims he isn't interested in getting people to like him in general. Slow to warm up to people, he nonetheless has a secret sense of humor and is slightly sarcastic in his rare attempts to be funny. It also makes him sort of happy whenever he manages to make a positive difference in someone's day every once in a while. So, even if he's not an especially generous or vocally expressive guy (tends to be more of a physical doer than a fancy talker), you'll catch him making small efforts to contribute to his community.

He takes great pride in being independent these days and the fact that he generally doesn't need to answer to anyone unless he wants to. Several guests have left online reviews to call him surly, and perhaps the only reason he still has tenants is that he happens to enjoy taking good care of his property. Really. Aquilla will do anything it takes to keep Mothlight Bounds well-maintained and comfortable. He occasionally clashes with Sajjita and Freesia in a territorial way because he considers every person who currently lives or stays as a guest on his property as under his protection for as long as he welcomes them there. He has been known to harbor small-time criminals. Rumor has it that Aquilla still has various contacts with the underbelly of the Burrowgatory; that he does jobs for old crooked friends or calls in favors to help pull a few strings. And if you ask the man himself, he'll only comment that whatever you've heard is an exaggeration. He may not be open about all of his business dealings. But his friends understand that, whatever the case, anything they entrust to him is in good hands.

Landlord duties aside, Aquilla craves things that let him feel something, preferring even negative sensations over numbness. Hence he tolerates being irritated by his new friends’ and co-workers’ shenanigans. He also feels quite a lot during intimacy, so he tends to engage in casual hook-ups or hire people to get his fix. The man hasn’t had much of an opportunity to learn what romantic love is. He’s not actively looking, but he is the slightest bit curious what that kind of love feels like based on what his crewmates tell him.

Overall, his goals are simply to honor his late friend by taking care of their old business properties and to figure out how to live a full life now that he finally has the chance to do something besides just hurting people (or protecting his bounty target long enough to claim his reward). Violence has its merits. But he wants to show off that he can be good at other things too.

Bun Size: Only a little on the slightly larger side. Not enough to stand out.

Doll Height: 6’9” for no good reason. But he was trying to be as big as possible since he thought it’d give him better survival odds among the thugs who stole and raised him.

He was named the inheritor of the property in the former landlord's (Marlowe’s) will, because they used to be close littermates. They were separated during a violent conflict between demons. And he had only begun to reconnect with Marlowe again recently after finding his way into the Burrowgatory, when Marlowe died in an attempt to protect him from one of his old rivals. Marlowe was successful, and their sacrifice gave Aquilla the window he needed to finish off her opponent. But the sudden loss is what ultimately made Aquilla agree to settle down a bit and continue his littermate's work. Even if Aquilla doesn't know if he is cut out for it yet, well? Here he is.

He is still not entirely used to the rest of the BunDun crew's antics; coping as best as he can though. And while it irks him that his renters often leave filthy little surprises for him whenever they vacate, Aquilla doesn’t mind that some of them proposition him during their stay.

About Mothlight Bounds:

Mothlight Bounds has a bit of variety as a residential area, with cheap apartment complexes, a lane of row houses, and even a few stand alone houses (mostly for short-term rental only, save for the one Aquilla lives in personally).
For the house Aquilla lives in, he rents the basement out for longer terms just because he likes having a bit of company.
Despite Mothlight Bounds’ steamy reputation, the properties are not in fact officially sex establishments and no expectations are placed on tenants/guests for how they should spend their time there. It just so happens that sometimes the place attracts some hella horny clientele.

Aquilla is not an open flirt or much of a charmer. Most days, attempting to verbally flirt with him can be like talking to a slightly disgruntled brick wall, especially if he's not in the mood for shenanigans. When he is interested, however, he expresses himself through physical contact. And if you demand words? He's rather blunt/ honest about it. Not shy. Kind of selfish, honestly. He can get especially impatient if whoever he is hitting on was flirting with him earlier but changed their tune. So what if he wasn't into it before? He's ready now. Nothing annoys him quite like hot-cold games. He's not even sure he likes it. But yeah. It does make him feel something. So it's a dynamic he tolerates.

Again, since physical contact is his love language, the easiest way to get his attention in most situations is to touch him. It doesn't have to be for sensual reasons. His friends have figured out that pawing at him or flopping against him in some capacity seems to encourage him to at least entertain whatever nonsense they're on about more than he would normally. Beware, however. Unless a person has established clear boundaries with him, they're at risk of him pulling them in and casually repositioning them for his pleasure: which is mostly just him enjoying holding/picking them up somehow or sitting them on his lap (captive). He'll either let them go when he feels like it or if they make some kind of deal with him.

Preference-wise, he is bi-sexual. And it's not a hard rule, but he leans toward less athletic/ less muscular body types. He may generally like people who are more expressive than him and skillful at something beneficial to others. He also maybe has a soft spot for altruistic types and underdogs.

I'm not sure yet what he'd be looking for in long-term romantic relationships. But I don't see him being very attracted to power dynamics where his partner is a layabout, simply follows him around like an accessory, or hasn't earned his respect.

The more aroused he is, the wider he spreads his wings. (It can also be used as a horny warning sign for when he's on the hunt for a bedmate.)
He prefers to be intimate in the dark/ with the lights off or in low light at least.

He has his turn-offs. But overall, he is fairly open to experimenting.
