This Greed-Bun has a commanding presence despite his soft spoken nature and gentle hands. He’s a stable focus in the lives of many buns throughout Burrowgatory: taking on the role of shop keeper, tea maker, acquaintance, game partner, drug dealer, and in one special case landlord. And in every case with those he really cares for, he’s gone out of his way to help them unasked and without request for repayment, even if he’s exasperated by the need to do so sometimes. Yet despite his many masks and quiet “favors”, he’s never untrue to himself, always direct with his thoughts and desires when he decides to voice them instead of shrouding them in silence.

His oldest connections have withstood the test of time, though they have certainly changed and morphed with the years. When TSILLAS closed the doors to his brothel, Shuichi also found himself displaced from his place of work and rest. He spent weeks figuring out how to support not only himself but them. Tsillas may have provided the direct stipend and apartment for AKAITO, but it was Shuichi with KUCHINASHI’S help that mitigated the fall out.. Now he provides them a place of respite, a place of work, and a place to be themselves dutifully caring for them from afar.

And while he wasn’t entirely enthused about Kuchi’s idea to center their Envy & Others Peer Support activities at his gardens. It turned out alright in the end. He might even call it a wonderful idea now, especially since he happened to make a few friends along the way.

On the darker side of Shuichi’s business sits a distinctive chemical smell.. Many buns know he’s the perfect hookup especially since he “knows a good chemist”: aka “THE ALCHEMIST”. He happened to meet Ebbitt through the bun known as HADRON and ended up with a closer relationship than the one he has with the inventor. EBBITT comes to visit him on a regular basis both for supplies and for a bit of company. The supplies are easy to come by, especially with Hadron’s constantly stocked pantry; but the company has become a bright side even in Shuichi’s life. He may even be kindling a true friendship with the Sloth-bun, though he would be loath to admit it.

And truthfully.. His relationship with EBBITT is hardly surrounded in the darker life in comparison to his biggest customer: The Shadow Syndicate. He’s been working with them for a long time, even before he knew who they were. And while he certainly would have liked to know sooner, he doesn’t regret a moment of their partnership. While he doesn’t indulge in the vices they have for those who seek them out - betting rings, easily obtained drugs, and the like - he’s certainly had more of a hand than being a supplier. He’s even taken to teaching a few of the syndicate’s fighters a thing or two from his past as an MMA specialist.. He may even choose a few favorites since they need less teaching and Shuichi can let loose and just spar like old times, of note is VADIM, one of the primary bodyguards.

But, Horticulture is his passion and science is necessary for that.. This need kindled a very begrudging relationship with Hadron. Despite knowing of his past indecencies through TSILLAS, having a fulltime inventor for free outside of a plot of land was too good of a deal to turn down - especially with how complicated some of his plants were: the specialized care they not only needed but he desired to spoil them with. So he’s built a tenuous and business only relationship with the “mad scientist” as he calls him, and called it good enough.

Regardless of every other facet of his life, the primary focus has always been and will always be his garden. Only a small portion of it is open to the public. The rest - especially the tropical and more eclectic of his collection, Hazeblooms present and accounted for of course - is kept locked away where they can grow undisturbed. All of his plants are his pride and joy, and he pours his soul into them giving them only the best fertilizer and mechanisms to aid in their growth. Often, he sings for them as he tends to their care; and at the suggestion of his live-in inventor he’s even begun leaving a record player with classical on for them when he is not there to serenade them personally.
