MYO-1672: Tai
Tai
(tye)
HE/HIM . TOYHOUSE
Tai (a newly hired secret agent who keeps his day job as a professional pool player) is flirty, suave, and never in a rush when he’s playing or doing his spy work, as that is where he feels most confident. But beyond that, he doesn’t stand out much socially and is something of a relaxed loner. The type to go out to restaurants to eat by himself. Not that he dislikes people. He just really enjoys his own company sometimes. He holds a grudge against the people who broke his dominant arm during a restaurant brawl he accidentally got dragged into one time, since it put him out of commission as a pool competitor for a while and really messed up his winning streak. Really, even if he has recovered quite a bit, he feels he’s still not able to play at the top of his game the way he used to. He’s mostly a casual and easy-to-approach guy as long as you don’t taunt him about possibly losing his competitive edge or ask too many questions about why he weirdly disappears suddenly. He is really quick to change the subject.
Okay. We're switching up Tai's story a bit.
He was formerly a pool shark, yes. And he was still salty after his injury. For a while, he felt like he lost his edge. But during that time he got caught up in an unlikely dangerous scenario and helped a secret agency. Now he's working as a spy for them, maintaining his pool shark career only as a cover.
One of his teammates is Professor Zagan, a cryptanalyst. His cover is as a museum curator.
Tai and Zagan are working to stop some demons from using the Burrowgatory as a place to start another demon war.
Tai found out about this conspiracy by accident during his attempts to take revenge against Sajjita and Freesia. He got lost while trailing Sajjita and and an excavation team below the Bungeon Dungeon, where he found a fresh demon corpse. Tai recovered some odd written communication from the corpse and managed to find his way back to the surface. But before he could figure out who to approach about this, he was targeted for an attack by a small demon seeking to recover the information. It's not that Tai is completely helpless. But he survived because Aquilla happensled to unwittingly assist in driving the demon away. Then upon seeing the confusing cyphers of whatever Tai had stolen, decided to put Tai in touch with Professor Zagan.
Aquilla doesn't know much about the inner workings of whatever group the professor works for, by he knows Zagan is good with codes, in case Tai had questions. Beyond that, Aquilla says he really doesn't want to be involved. (Though he may not have a choice, given Bungeon Dungeon, a former war site, seems to be a hot spot for this kind of trouble.)
Professor Zagan is impressed that managed to dodge demons, get around some light security at the university, and meet with him. He decides Tai has more talent than meets the eye. And in exchange for Tai helping his secret agency keep on top of the intel on the demon war planning, Zagan offers Tai spy training and resources.
I know that Lilliel is sometimes contracted out to spy for shady groups. So while she may not aways be involved with or even on the same side as Tai, I like the idea of them having to work together sometimes.
Lilliel doesn't do the physically dangerous or flashy stuff you see in spy movies.
.
Tai might have to, if things get hairy. He also gets special gadgets.
One of his greatest challenges is the fact that in order to do his spy job, he has to frequent the Bungeon Dungeon without making people suspicious. Sajjita and Freesia are especially difficult, considering he knows and they kniw, he's still not their biggest fan. So he often has to enter under the pretense of being a customer, and make excuses about having a terrible sense of direction if he gets caught wandering in weird places.
.
He'll befriend Var and other customers in the process, ocassionally teaming up for park challenges.
