Dan is the hardworking owner of Dan's Dango, a confectionery store that sells many types of rice cakes. He takes great pride in the treats he sells, especially his mochi, which he trained extensively to pound to perfection. The quickest way to win him over is to praise his mochi-making skills, while slighting them will earn you his eternal ire.

Dan is a very quiet, no-nonsense bun, and comes off as a big grouch in most interactions with other people. He prefers to avoid crowds and to spend most of his time alone, solemnly working on his confectioneries. Despite this, he is often found in the company of Shibani, who seems to have set up a permanent pillow pile in the back of his shop.

Though Dan often expresses exasperation at Shibani's laziness and gripes about the burden of providing for him, he secretly loves having Shibani around all the time. Something about Shibani warms Dan's guarded heart, and he's great with Dan's customers... Plus, he's not exactly bad to keep around as eye candy.
