Carat Guide - Writing Requirements

In order to earn rewards for writing submitted to Succubuns, it must follow the writing requirements outlined below. You're welcome to upload work that doesn't meet these requirements to the Art Gallery, but it cannot be submitted for rewards.

Submission Limits

Every prompt submitted to Succubuns is individually reviewed by a human moderator. As such, when a single player submits a large number of prompts or prompts containing a large number of characters all at once, it can put strain on our moderation team and slow down the approval queue for other players.

To help us avoid these issues, please stick to the following limits for submissions:

Please do not submit more than 5 submissions at one time. If you have more than 5 pieces to submit, wait until the first 5 have been approved before submitting more.
- Please do not submit more than 1 submission over 2,000 words at one time. Written pieces this long are very time consuming for our moderators to review, and having multiple in the queue can create a blockage that is difficult to clear.

Length

Written submissions must be at least 300 words minimum.
Written submissions cannot exceed 2,599 words maximum.

Pieces shorter than 300 words are too small to earn any rewards, and pieces longer than 2,500 words are too lengthy for moderators to read. These limitations also apply to collaborative writing and roleplay.

Complete Story

Many talented writens on Succubuns could easily write 10,000 words about their characters, and may try to split longer pieces into multiple 2,500 word segments to submit for rewards. However, due to the large volume of prompts our moderator team processes, it is not feasible for staff to follow an on-going serialized story, or review a piece that starts in the middle of a story.

All written submissions must be complete, telling their whole story in 2,599 words or less. This means that each piece submitted must have a clear begining that sets the scene and introduces the characters, and a conclusion that makes it clear the story has reached its end—a reader cannot be expected to read an additional piece set before or after the submission in order to get the full story.

Please do not split pieces longer than 2,599 words into multiple submissions to get around the word limit.

Easy to Read

All writing submitted to Succubuns must be written in English, in prose format. This refers to writing like you would find in a novel, using quotation marks and dialogue tags.

Works in a script format, poems, lists, text messages conversations, or simple roleplay in the style of *nuzzles you* can not be submitted for rewards.

All writing submissions must be formatted for easy reading. Avoid bright text or background colors, strange font choices, or text that's excessively large or small.

Please include regular paragraph breaks and clearly label who is speaking.

Please also make sure to proof-read your work, making sure that everything is spelled correctly, punctuated, and properly capitalized. Pieces with small errors are acceptable, but if a piece is all run-on sentences, lacks proper punctuation or capitalization, is riddled with spelling errors, or is otherwise too difficult to read, it will be rejected.

Uniquely Created By You

All writing submitted to Succubuns must be uniquely written by a Succubuns player, and created specifically for Succubuns.

The following are not allowed for Succubuns submissions, and may result in disciplinary action if used:

- Generative AI programs such as ChatGPT. You may not use AI programs to write any amount of your submisisons.
-AI editing programs such as Grammerly AI. While using digital tools to check your grammar and spelling is fine, using programs that reword or rewrite your work is not.
- Passing off another's writing as your own. You're welcome to commission written pieces or seek assistance from beta readers, but you may not submit writing that someone else has written or rewritten for you as if you wrote it completely yourself.

Currently, we cannot accept pieces that were originally written in another language and then translated using AI-assisted or automatic translators, as we cannot easily distinguish them from AI-generated pieces. Please make sure that all written submissions are originally written in English.

Canon Compliant

All writing submitted to Succubuns need to be respectful of the Succubuns world and lore.

The following are not allowed in official Succubuns submissions:
- Settings other than BurrowgatorySuccubuns cannot travel to other locations such as the heavenly meadow, Hell, or the human world.
- Non-Succubuns characters or creatures, such as humans, other adoptable species, or real life animals or insects.
- The sun, moon, or stars—Burrowgatory is underground, and does not have a view of celestial bodies.
- Guns or other firearms, which do not exist in Burrowgatory.
- Fantasy or sci-fi elements such as magical abilities or potions, monster-fighting adventurers, or futuristic technology. Burrowgatory is a modern urban setting, and the only unrealistic elements of the setting are the ones explicitly outlined in the lore pages.
- Submissions that break any of our Content Rules.

Official Characters

Works submitted to Succubuns may only contain official characters. This means that every character featured in the piece must have an approved entry on the BUN, MYO, or NPC masterlist. Doll forms may only be used in written works if their designs have been approved on the bun's masterlist entry.

If a story needs a nameless background character to fulfill a simple function, you may briefly mention one, but they should not have more than single line of dialogue or be mentioned more than twice. (For example, if your bun is buying a scandalous item, you can mention that they felt like the cashier was judging them, but you cannot name the cashier or have them engage an in-depth discussion with your bun.)

If you need characters to add to your story, consider searching for characters on the masterlist who are set to Gift Writing Open, or use one of the NPCs!

Following these basic guidelines, along with any prompt-specific requirements, will ensure that your writing can be submitted for its proper rewards.

Happy writing!
