Design Guide - Rejection

First of all—there’s no need to panic, or to feel bad about your design. It happens to everyone sometimes, and is a natural result of the submission process!

In order to try to maintain consistency across designs by hundreds of artists with very different styles, the Succubuns team has developed a very detailed set of guidelines about what is and isn’t allowed in succubun designs. Because of this, it’s common for designs to need revisions to meet these guidelines.

With every rejection, we do our best to clearly explain what needs to be changed in order for the design to be accepted. You can view all of your rejected design submissions to read the notes left on them here.

Please use the rejection notes given to you, as well as the Design Guide pages for any relevant parts of your succubun’s design, to revise your design as necessary. Once all of your revisions are complete, you can resubmit your design in the same way you submitted it the first time.

(Note: The Succubuns team will generally not ask you to make very small or insignificant changes. If you’re asked to change an element of your design, please redraw it to be significantly larger/smaller/etc., rather than making a small change that can only be noticed when closely comparing the two versions side by side.)

If you don’t understand the changes being asked of you, or you would like to ask followup questions, you can open a private help ticket in the official Succubuns Discord server. Please make sure to read the help channel rules and fill out the form found in the private help channel in order to get one-on-one assistance from a member of the Succubuns team.

Please note that the Succubuns team does not accept rejection appeals. We do not like rejecting designs, and try to only do so if absolutely necessary—all rejections are carefully considered at the time of writing, and will not be repealed without the requested revisions. You’re welcome to ask questions about how to follow rejection notes, but please do not try to argue that a rejected feature should be allowed.

Mistaken Approvals & Previously Allowed Features

Succubuns has always strived to make MYOs attainable for all players, whether or not they spend money on the game. Because of this, we handle an incredibly large number of approvals every month, and will sometimes accidentally let things through that should not have been approved.

Additionally, in the beginning of Succubuns, the team had very little experience with approving designs by a variety of artists, so the guidelines for succubun designs were much looser. Over the course of the game’s life, we’ve learned a lot through trial and error, and have tightened the guidelines to try to keep things fair and consistent for everyone. This means that many older designs have features that we can no longer allow on new designs.

We do not think it would be fair to ask players to redraw art that has already been approved, especially when their buns may have already changed hands from their original owners. As such, unless we catch a mistake immediately after approval, we will allow mistaken approvals and old designs that are no longer approvable to stand as they are on the masterlist.

This means that older buns may not be used as precedent to submit new designs with currently disallowed features. New designs must adhere to the current Design Guide, trait descriptions, and judgment of the Succubuns team, not existing succubun designs.

Please note that if you possess one of these designs with currently disallowed features, any redesigns of that character must comply with the current rules.

Trying to use the same set of criteria to judge thousands of designs by artists with wildly different styles is a difficult and subjective task, and the Succubuns team is only human. Final judgment is always based on the visual clarity of a design, which can vary a lot between different art styles and designs.

Thank you for being understanding of the Succubuns team's limitations. We can't wait to approve your revised designs!
