Design Guide - Bun Faces

Succubuns are designed to look like cute mascot creatures, rather than either realistic or anthropomorphic rabbits, and nowhere is this clearer than in their cute, simple faces.

Face Shape

Succubuns’ heads are a simple, round, squishy shape. They have flat faces, with a slight bump outwards at the nose and mouth. They do not have any kind of defined snout, and do not have a defined jawline like a human does.

Eyes

Succubuns are most commonly depicted with simple, oblong dots for eyes, as well as small, round eyebrows. If desired, they may be depicted with more detailed eyes; however, please be careful not to make their faces look too human.

If a bun’s eyes are drawn so that they have visible sclera, the sclera must be white, unless they have the Evil Eye trait. The iris must be round, but can be any color; the pupil can be any color and any simple shape.

Noses

By default, bun noses are not visible. When noses are depicted, they should resemble that of a rabbit, with “V-shaped” nostrils and a line connecting the nose to the mouth. Buns do not have wet noses like predator animals, nor do they have human-like noses. The nose should be positioned between the eyes, rather than below them.

Mouths

By default, succubuns have simple, rabbit-like mouths, shaped like an upside-down “Y.” If desired, they may be stylized to resemble more of a “W” or sideways “3” shape. Their mouth cannot be wider than the space between their eyes. They cannot have a human-like mouth shape, and do not possess lips.

Unlike real rabbits, succubuns do not possess extra long incisors. Their teeth are rarely visible, but when they are, they’re simple and flat. Their gums should not be visible, and the Fangs trait is required for sharp teeth of any kind, including prominent canines.

Unless affected by the Devil’s Tongue trait, succubuns have regular round, pink tongues. An open mouth must be depicted in a realistic color, blank black, or blank white.

One exception can be made for stylistic purposes: a blank open mouth, with no visible teeth or tongue, may be colored with a darker and more muted version of the bun’s main coat color to avoid bringing a clashing color into the palette. However, that succubun will still canonically possess a regular flesh-tone mouth and tongue.
