Flower Troubles

Midicus had been shoving his face into the large bouquet of red flowers for a while now, with Captain sitting next to him and looking away as best he could. The both of them had decided to go on an outing as friends while their respective partners made preparations for Matentines. They both had the same things planned at the end of the day, they both were going to go on dates with their partners, they were both going to go home and be intimate with their beloveds. Yet Midicus was the only one of the two with a bouquet of flowers to go with it. Captain hadn’t asked for flowers, that would have been too much- but he had expected them anyways, it was tradition after all, the go-to gift for the season. He didn’t even know what his favorite flowers were, but he still wanted them.

Seeming catching on to the other’s frown, Midicus looked over at his friend. “Are you alright, Captain?” He asked, putting the flowers away from his face and turning to look at the other succubun. Captain sighed. “Yeah, I’m fine, it’s just that Otere didn’t get me any flowers, and I was really hoping that they would.” Midicus nodded, a small hum reaching the air as he tried to think of something to say to make his friend feel better. “Maybe they’re going to give you flowers later today? You’re not exactly the easiest to garden or buy for, so maybe they just needed some extra time to make sure they get something you like!” Captain tried to look at Midicus, nervous smile and all, but couldn’t manage it. “I guess, but I mean, they could have at least told me they were planning on it. It’s just… I feel really stupid sitting next to you when you have this huge bouquet from your boyfriend and I have…well, I have nothing except for my stupid outfit.”

“Well, for one, I don’t think your outfit is stupid. Pink works really well on you and I think it’d be nice if you wore suits more.” Midicus started, fussing with his own pink suit. “And for two, you know just as well as I do that everything my boyfriend does is over the top. He never lets anything be simple, and never lets even the smallest gift be anything less than an event.” He explained, noting the small accessories introduced into the bouquet as well. Captain had to admit that the amount of items in the bouquet was… a bit much.

“The point being, you’re worrying too much about it, Captain. Put a little trust in your partner, hm? Otere may be a bit slow on the draw sometimes, but I know they mean well and would do anything for you.” He sighed. “Speaking of, you need to tell them to stop asking me about what you like, I can only say how much you like treasure, sailing, fishing, and beer so much before it becomes tiring.” Captain couldn’t help but laugh at that, starting to finally calm down. “You’re right. Thank you, Midicus.”
