Apple Orchard Fun
It was finally apple picking season! Honey had been preparing for it since the summer had started showing signs of winding down into cool autumn weather. He’d gone through cookbooks and recipe blogs in search of new recipes to incorporate apples in, looked up reviews for the best apple orchard, and even designed new apple themed jewelry and accessories to help himself work through his eagerness for autumn. And finally, finally, the apple orchards were in full swing and the season had arrived! The first free weekend they both had, Honey invited Prima to go apple picking with him and they agreed to ride over together. Since apple picking required only the most comfortable yet stylish attire, Honey decided to switch it up a little and wear baby blue shorts, an incredibly oversized and fluffy matching cardigan, and a cute white shirt. It seemed Prima had a similar idea since her outfit was practically a match but in pink and lacy and both Succubuns giggled upon spotting each other. They drove over together and sooner rather than later, they arrived at the bustling apple orchard Honey had picked.
It was huge and already there were plenty of other Succubuns bustling about, chatting and collecting apples or milling about the barns to purchase the apple related items on sale. The trees were tall, but not too tall where they would have any problems, and Honey was practically vibrating with excitement as they bought their passes and baskets and were turned loose on the orchard. “Come on! Let’s go over there!” Honey pointed to a row of trees that didn’t seem to have too many other buns over there and Prima smiled fondly, allowing herself to be tugged along to the row of trees. Honey knew she was humoring him, that she’d rather be inside making apple desserts than picking the apples herself and running the risk of leaves in her hair or branches snagging her white locks, and he was eternally grateful to have a friend as kind as her. He grinned and immediately started fluttering about, bustling from tree to tree with open awe as he hunted for his favorite kinds of apples: the ones that weren’t too red or too green but a blend of the two. They always tasted the best! And he also wanted some of the bruised ones too for tarts and pies! “Prima! Prima look!” Honey stood on the tips of his hooves and managed to snag a really big, picture perfect apple and he grinned and showed it to her.
“Oh it’s beautiful!” His grin grew and he put it in Prima’s basket. “For me?”
“Of course! Only the prettiest apples for my pretty girl,” he teased playfully and Prima swatted his shoulder.
“I suppose so. You do have fine taste in them. Very well then, pick me the prettiest of the bunch.”
“Yes ma’am!” For the most part, Prima stayed in the center of the aisles, away from the reach of the trees and allowed Honey to pick their apples, something the other Succubun didn’t mind one bit. He was having a blast just getting to experience the orchard with his best friend by his side. Once their baskets were nearly overflowing with apples, they trudged back to their car to leave them there safely and started exploring more of the orchard. A delicious scent filled the air the closer they got to one of the barns and Prima tugged Honey’s hand, pulling him towards it.
“This way! I smell fresh tarts.” They went through the open white doors and gasped as they were hit not just with the smell of fresh tarts, but also fresh pies and cookies and really any kind of apple dessert you could think of. There was even apple crisp cheesecake! Every inch of the barn was practically packed with fresh baked goods, a vast majority of which involved apples in some form. And near the doors was a truly massive stash of ciders for sale. It was amazing! They wandered the barn/store’s winding walkways in awe, scooping up whatever caught their eyes and their noses the most. Honey ended up snagging some apple crisp cheesecake, apple cider donut pound cake, and apple strudel while Prima grabbed some French apple cake, apple tarts, and apple spice cake. Considering their hands were already overloaded with apple dessert goodness, they ended up needing to make another trip to the car before they could return for some cider.
With a bottle for each of them and a bottle Honey grabbed for Amour, they made one more stop to check out the gift shop that was the second barn. It was filled with adorable little knicknacks and trinkets from autumn themed windchimes to apple plushies to scented candles. Anything that could even remotely relate to apples, autumn, or the orchard itself. Considering Honey already had made them both tons of jewelry and plenty of accessories for the season, they bypassed those and went right for the mugs and other shiny trinkets. With the critical eye of a craftsman, Honey picked them over until he settled on matching mugs for him and Prima that looked like orange and red leaves that when placed together lined up perfectly, a really pretty snowglobe for Amour, and a beautiful set of blown glass ornaments in reds, oranges, and yellows for Prima. With a pout, Prima poked his cheek and demanded he pick out something else that was just for him so Honey looked around a bit more before deciding on a scented pink plush Furdin with the smell of apples and cinnamon.
With the sun starting to set and their bodies tiring, the duo made their way back to the car with the last of their haul and headed to Prima’s place for a sleepover and dinner. With actual rest included.
Honey and Prima head to the orchard for apples and fun!
