Let's Start With Sit

"Sit Cupcake. Cupcake, sit. Sit. Cupcake sit please, I feel like I'm begging at this point." Payton sighed as his imp tilted her head once again, tail wagging for the treat her new owner was currently holding in his hand.

"Well, it certainly looks like you are begging her at this point. " laughed a voice from behind startling the pudgy Succubun enough that he nearly leapt with the fright.

Upon turning around to see who had the audacity to sneak up on him, he found himself having to look up to meet her gaze.
"Quince." he breathed, relieved to see it was someone he knew. "Can you not scare me like that?" Payton added with a little more huff to his tone.
The action only earned another light laugh from the taller, pastel coloured woman.
"I don't think I was exactly being quiet, but sure. I saw you out here with your new little buddy and came to see how you're getting on." she explained, nodding to Cupcake who was now padding about after her own Stroodle, Mademoiselle.
Both their tails were wagging as they sniffed at one another and bounced about happily around their owners. Quince found herself smiling fondly at how happy the colourful little critters were. She was right in entrusting one of her prized pedigree imps to Payton. Not that she doubted anyone who adopted from her, but it was always nice seeing them being taken care of for herself.

"Oh, right well, ah Cupcake is doing well. She's a delight actually! The cafe feels so much more alive with her about and she's been excellent company, but I'm just, uh, having a little problem with training. With tricks I mean." the smaller, more rounded Succubun replied as his own eyes followed the pair of pups too.

Quince listened, nodding her head and smiled.
" I take it Cupcake here is your first imp?" she asked. He nodded in response.
" Well, I can tell ya that just standing there with a treat tellin' her to sit won't do anything. She's not gonna understand that. Ya gotta lead her into it." the peach haired bun explained as she whistled and Mademoiselle came right over to her and sat. "It takes time to train an imp ya know? So first be patient with her."
Her strong but gentle hand pet the little Stroodle on the head who happily leaned into the touch, tail wagging.
Cupcake, who had followed her new friend, came over and received the same treatment. A gentle, affectionate pat.

Payton came to join Quince and the two canid imps. "Right patience. I've been as patient as possible and I'm not angry at her or anything. I just…don't know how to get her to understand. Mademoiselle seems to understand you? You whistled and she just came over and sat. Can you teach me to do that?" he asked, toying with the treat in his hand.
"Teach you to do that or do you mean the imp?" Quince smirked, which earned her a fierce blush and squeaky little huff from Payton. He was too easy to fluster.
"I'm kidding…Mostly." she assured with a laugh and motioned for Payton to hand her the treat.

"It's the last one I have on me." the white and purple haired man mentioned, though didn't hesitate to hand it over. It was all going to Cupcake anyway.

"Don't worry I've got plenty more. Lemme show you how to teach her though. If ya get this you'll be able to teach her any trick." Quince explained.

Payton watched as Quince broke the treat in two and held one half over Cupcake until she had the imp's attention.
When the little pup had her eyes locked firmly onto the treat Quince moved it further back making Cupcake tilt her head back more and more until the Stroodle had to sit back on her hind legs to see where the treat was.

"Sit." The pedigree pet owner told the little imp and gave her one half of the treat to eat and pet her head.
Quince repeated the process; the treat held up for attention, held just out of view until Cupcake was sitting to look at it, the command was uttered and the imp got her treat.
"Just like that! Easy as pie really and once she gets the idea that sit equals treat she'll respond to being told. Just be sure to give her the treat. Then you can substitute any command equals treat. Ya just gotta show her how it's done first." Quince explained as she pet Cupcake and handed Payton a treat to try it himself.

With an encouraging nod from his impromptu mentor Payton mimicked what he'd seen. He shouldn't be shocked it worked given Quince had shown him that it would but it didn't stop the happy little wave of his tail when Cupcake did sit back and stare up at the treat her owner held.

"Sit." he told her before feeding the Stroodle the treat.
"Yeah, just like that!" Quince beamed, giving Payton a little clap for a job well done.

She got back to her feet and offered five more treats to the smaller Succubun. "Try these for now. I think she'll have the hang of it once they run out."
Payton took them gratefully and nodded his head to the other. "Thank you so much for the help Quince. I owe you for this." he smiled and looked at Cupcake who happily wagged her tail.
Quince waved him off and shook her head. "Don't sweat it, it's the least I can do to help. I hope to see your little Stroodle performing some crazy tricks next time we meet." she laughed and headed off with her Stroodle.

Payton chuckled and looked at the ornate little bag of treats he'd been handed. He was very grateful for the help from Quince and now even more excited to train Cupcake!
With a determined little nod Payton looked down at his own pet once again. She looked right back at him, happy as ever.

"Right, well let's start with sit."
