[Gift] Bad training for lots of treats

"Sit. Please." Gaius's harsh voice left him as he feeds the imp treats. Somehow some way though, the imp didn't listen, almost like Gaius was just rewarding it for existing. Which he was. Orryn scoffs at his side, slapping his shoulder.

"That's not how you do it. You have to make sure he actually knows what sit means." Orryn leans comfortably on Gaius as he watches, not helping any except for little comments as Gaius fails to teach his pup, only feeding him for the simple trick of sitting still. It worked... he definitely sat still, he just didn't... sit at all. 

"Well how do I do that? I can't make him sit." He scoffs back, looking down at the man who just made himself comfortable on Gaius's side. He feeds the pup another treat... good sitting still pup. 

"Push his butt down!" Orryn explains, tapping the little pups butt to try and get him to sit, though he resisted and it wasn't like Orryn put much force into it. 

"But that's rude. I'm not going to push his butt down. He just resisted you doing it!" Another treat to the pup, who at this point was sure that sit just meant to stand perfectly still until he was given a treat. 

"Gaius... it's not rude, it's teaching him the trick properly. You're just gonna have him standing somewhere if you tell him to sit right now!" He sits up some, taking the treat from Gaius's hand. "Here, look." He pushes the imp's butt down, making it sit, handing it the treat as he said "Sit." The pup sat up as soon as he heard the word sit, ignoring Orryn's attempts to keep his butt on the ground. Orryn lets out an exasperated sigh as he watches. "See? Now he doesn't know that sit means to actually sit down. He thinks its just to sit still!" He flops dramatically back onto Gaius who lifts his arm to let him lay on his lap. He looks down at the other man. "It's fine. It's the same thing, I just need him to stop moving for just a moment sometimes. It's too much to have him create havoc in my office." He looks up at the pup who is definitrely spoiled with treats at this point, looking towards the two men for more. Gaius smiles slightly as he feeds the imp one last treat, "Good boy." He waits for Orryn to pipe up, knowing he will have something to say. And he's correct.

"No! Not good boy!" He grabs Gaius's face, "I mean he is but, no! You can't just teach him that sit is standing still. Teach him properly!" Orryn huffs in annoyance, tired of the nonsense already. "At the very least just teach him properly, you don't have to do much else than that!" Orryn sits up again, grabbing another treat from the bag that Gaius had just closed up and set to the side. 

"Ok, pup... sit." He watched as the pup sat still, and he pushed his butt down, keeping his hand pushing down as he fed him the treat. "Good sit. See? Teach him like that!" He nods, handing the bag back to Gaius. 

"Maybe tomorrow. He's already had a lot of treats today-" Gaius begins before looking over at a slightly annoyed Orryn and shakes his head. "Ok. Fine."

He places a hand on the imp's butt, pushing it down, "Sit." He feels the pup try to stand but continues to push down as he feeds him the treat. 

"See? How hard was that, now just keep doing it until he learns what sit is. It really isn't that difficult." Orryn huffs, continuing to reteach the imp the proper trick with Gaius, happily petting and kissing the top of the pups head when he got it correct. Gaius just watched as Orryn's mood slowly got better and if it just took him properly teaching the pup and being a bit less grumpy about owning the imp, then he guessed it wouldn't be too bad to take the time and moments to properly do things. "Maybe we can teach him another trick." Gaius hums in thought, watching Orryn's face. 

"Maybe another day. Just getting this down is almost too much for the little guy." Orryn starts to baby talk towards the imp halfway through the sentence, and Gaius cursed to himself in his mind. He wanted an excuse to have Orryn with him longer, laying on him and holding each other. But teaching him a trick again another day was just the excuse to have him later. One would think they didn't sleep in the same bed each night or spend almost every waking moment together with how desperate Gaius seemed to have Orryn around him. 

"Okay. Another day then." Gaius hums in agreement, watching Orryn baby the little pup. 

"We should dress him up." Orryn smiles, slipping his glasses off and placing them onto the pup.

"Absolutely not. Leave him be, he's fine as is. Look at him." He gestures to the pup, though without his glasses, Orryn just squints at the pup and at Gaius. 

"I can't. I don't have my glasses." Orryn teases. 

"Put them back on, you're such a child." Gaius laughs gently as he speaks, taking the glasses off of the pup carefully to not hurt him and slide them onto Orryn. The two smile at each other for a moment before the pup decides it's his turn to have the attention again, climbing onto their laps and standing with one paw on each of their legs. 

"I wonder...." Gaius watches as the little imp stretches his little legs to stand across the two. "Sit." And he watches with slight amusement as the pup tries his best to keep his paws on both as he sat before Gaius gave him reprieve and sat him between the two of them. 

"Gaius don't be mean to him!" Orryn pets the little pup.

"I wasn't being mean, just seeing how far he'd go to be on both of us and still listen to training." He laughs quietly again, something Orryn relished in at the moment, as he watched Gaius feed the pup one last treat. 

"Right sure. I do think that should be the last treat he gets though... they're not really supposed to eat right? I really doubt it's the best thing to keep feeding him treats, as much as he loves them." Orryn laughs softly and Gaius agrees. "You're probably right, Hutch didn't say anything about it but... I don't want him to get sick... if he can. Nor do I want him to have any averse affects to the treats." He sets the bag away for good now, only a small hand full of treats left. Maybe next time he'd break the treats so that he wasn't just giving him full giant biscuits and instead just manageable pieces. Then they'd go further too.... something to think about next time he tried to train the pup. If he ever did. All he really needed was the pup to sit still sometimes, not much else. But having them go further when he reinforced the sit trick.. that would be nice. He'd spend less money trying to just reinforce one little trick anyways. The two men stand, Orryn picking up the little imp before Gaius could and stepping out of the room. "Time to go do some chores, maybe that could be his next trick, cleaning the church for us." Orryn teases, Gaius laughing behind him. "That'd be quite the trick honestly. I'd love to see it, especially how one teaches it. I feel like you'd have to clean the whole church time and time again until he learned." 

Orryn laughed softly at that, "Maybe so. I guess church cleaning tricks are off the books for now. But that doesn't mean he's completely safe from them. We all have our share." Orryn teases again before setting the pup loose in the main church area, carefully creating havoc behind those who just cleaned different areas. "Though maybe... just not ruining the church would be the best trick to teach first..." He sighs, as he and Gaius clean up behind the imp and apologize to the poor nuns, priests and volunteers who watched their work get ruined for a moment. 

"Maybe... I guess a few more tricks wouldn't hurt." Gaius sighs.
