Best In Show

“I think Wave needs a new collar.”  Kaili yawned as she said the words.

Andi was used to that, though.  She set down the mallet she had been using to make dango, and peered out into the living room.  “She does?”

Kaili pointed towards the impup, who was snoozing on the floor with a very clearly broken collar.

The two buns regarded the scene for a long moment.  “How-  Oh, it’s not worth knowing.  I’ll finish the dango and then we can go out for a new one and to get some drinks and dinner.”

Kaili yawned, trying to push her ears away from her field of view so they couldn’t make her fall asleep.  “Okay~”  She wanted to sleep, she did- but she’d wanted to go to try a new food place tonight too, and she couldn’t just get Andi to pick up takeout for her when she didn’t even know yet what she liked there…

It didn’t take Andi too much longer to finish up with the dango, which she set out to cool.  Usually, she’d have to guard it from Wave - but since the impup was going to go with them, it should be fine.  Adi was always too glued to Kaili’s side to commit dango theft (and usually she preferred mochi, anyways - which Andi had been working on getting better at, though she wasn’t that good at it yet…)

She went to their bedroom to grab a purse.  While she didn’t usually wear one, this one was designed with a harness for an impup, and it was a good option for taking Wave out while she had no functioning collar.

Back in the living room, she scooped the impup up, getting the harness fastened as Wave woke up and began looking around, confused, before whining as she saw the broken collar on the ground.

Kaili giggled, making herself get up.  She slid her hand into Andi’s as they headed out the door.

It wasn’t a long walk to one of the shops that sold imp accessories, at least.  They perused collars for a little bit, before Kaili picked one out.  Like the prior one, it had an aquatic theme to it, but this one had an attached bandana and more details than the old one.  As they headed towards the register, she spotted some horn accessories that matched the new collar, so of course she grabbed those too, and then there was a little set of fin clips for marine phloofs that had a cute floral theme…

…and some treat pouches with the same aesthetic too, which they just had to have.  The ones they’d gotten when they had started training their imps with Quince were alright, but they were so plain.

Andi paid for the items at the counter, and then they took a few moments near it to put the accessories on their imps.  Wave seemed confused by the new horn accessories, pawing at them after Andi put them on, and shaking her head back and forth and around, confused by this new weight.

Adi, by contrast, seemed pleased by the fin clips, and especially by Kaili taking a picture of her.

Of course, even Wave perked up when they noticed both buns switching their treats into the new treat bags, especially when they each got some from their owner’s treat pouches.  Maybe new accessories were okay - at least, by the time Wave had finished trying to talk Andi into giving her all the other dango she had, she’d quite forgotten about the horn accessories and had quite trying to shake her head around or use her paw to remove them.
