[Gift] [Orryn]: Drunken Confessions
It was way past curfew at this point and Gaius stiffly fixes the cuffs of his shirt, looking anxious. This was the second night that they were going out for the festivities, the second night of drinks and rides and… generally being away from the safe confines of the church. Of course Gaius had initially suggested the idea of checking out the festivals but little did he know that he had opened a flood gate, for after their first little… ‘excursion’, Orryn had not stopped talking about it.
He had had too much fun and was excited for the next time. And so, the next time became a little earlier than Gaius would’ve wanted, which was a mere few days after their last field trip out of the convent.
Currently, they were sitting down at a small table set up outdoors near the food stands, people around them laughing and chatting. It was… all just so different from the quiet confines of the church. It unsettled Gaius somehow, being in such unfamiliar territory.
“Gaius… Gaius! Hey, what’s with the pout?” Orryn asks with a laugh, waving a hand in front of his face. Gaius looks up, snapping out of his daze. He lets out a soft sigh, shaking his head, a smirk forming on his lips. “Orryn-” he says slowly, “Another one…?” Orryn smiles, rolling his eyes slightly. His cheeks were flushed and he had a sleepy smile on his lips. He was definitely tipsy, or a little more than that at this point. And yet here he was, pouring himself another shot. “Oh lighten up, will you…?” Orryn reaches over and pours Gaius one of his own. “We’re out, and there’s no sermon to attend tomorrow! Let’s let loose, have fun, you know!” He raises his glass and nudges for Gaius to do the same. “To us!” Orryn exclaims. They both clink their glasses together, but as Orryn downs his in a swift motion, Gaius takes a small sip. Someone’s gonna have to get them home, after all.
“You know, Gaius-” Orryn says, words slurred, setting his glass down again. “I’ve been thinking-” Gaius laughs, raising an eyebrow and leaning back into his seat. “Oh dear… Thinking you say?” he muses. “Please. Elaborate.” Orryn waves him off clumsily.
“I was thinking… what are we…?” Gaius blinks at that. He crosses his arms casually, waiting for Orryn to continue. “I mean-” Orryn says, reaching over to take the bottle in his hand to pour himself another drink, “We’re… we’re close, aren’t we? Like two pods in a pea-”
“Peas in a pod, but yes go on”
“Potato, po-ta-to, whatever. But.. we’re just always… You’re just always… there.” Orryn takes another shot, and honestly, Gaius had lost count of how many he had. “Whenever I have a good day, I want to go to you. Whenever I have a bad day, I want to go to you too. I just.. I always seem to look for you, you know…?”
Gaius remains quiet, watching Orryn run his mouth. It was interesting what the liquor was making Orryn say.
“So I guess what I’m trying to say is… Gaius. What I’m trying to say…” Orryn furrows his eyebrows. It seems like whatever he’s trying to say is really short circuiting his brain…
“Gaius I-”
Gaius jumps slightly as a firework goes off in the background. The sound of cheering fills the air as another firework goes off, then another. Gaius was about to turn his attention to them before Orryn gets up from his chair and pulls Gaius’ shirt to close the distance between the two. He puts his lips on Gaius’ and kisses him softly. At first, the gesture startles the other, but after a while he closes his eyes and surrenders to the kiss, gently cupping Orryn’s cheek in his hand.
The fireworks illuminate the night sky in a burst of color and light as two figures head back to the church, one stumbling slightly, arm around the other’s shoulder who is pulling him close. “Gaius-” Orryn calls out, words slurred and steps unsure. “I didn’t get to tell you-”
“Don’t need to, Orryn.” Gaius calls out gently. “I already know.”
Gaius hears a confession but its outside of the churchhhhhhhhhhhh
