[Vance] Bun's Best Friend
On days where Vance wasn’t required to leave his apartment, he would be found sinking into his secondhand plush black couch with a very spoiled albino Uniqor resting on top of his lap. One might expect the pride bun to have a house similar to his aesthetic, but they would be surprised to find that his abode was actually a horrid clash of colors, picked with no regard on how it would work with the rest of the furniture. Worse yet, if asked about it, Vance would have a proud expression on his face, which mostly constituted slightly narrowed eyes and a firmer gaze. I furnished it myself.
Which, depending on the bun, would drive down an opinion on Vance rather than what he assumed would happen. Not that he cared; he was never really someone who cast his net far and wanted a lot of relationships.
He never really saw himself as an imp owner either, but life had a tendency to surprise buns. The white, soft and velvety coat of the Uniqor had been put up for sale by one of his clients for constantly causing trouble (and not being a pretty statue, which Vance thought was silly to expect from an imp. Might as well get an actual statue rather than something alive). He was able to get away with the price by compensating with service, and so that left him with a bright albino that perfectly contrasted the dull walls and the deep red carpet.
The imp, which he named Snowy, definitely did not like him at first, but Vance imagined that it seemed plenty more comfortable being the only imp around compared to its previous living situation. Also, it had free reign of the apartment, which wasn’t a lot of space, but that didn’t stop Snowy from having zoomies from time to time. For a while it would be mostly keeping to itself, allowing Vance to exist in the same room as it, but giving him the stink eye if he got somewhat close. The Uniqor was also not the best at keeping itself and its surroundings clean, though it certainly got upset when it noticed there was something on its coat.
When Vance thought about it, it was probably all that cleaning up that made Snowy begin to trust him a little more. It probably learned eventually that the bun was better at cleaning it up rather than letting something dry on its coat and trying to rub it off on another surface. As weeks passed, that steady patience allowed for head pats and lap naps. Frankly, Vance hadn’t expected that he would be spending so much on an imp, but he did recently purchase a camera item that allowed him to talk to the Uniqor while he was out (and also to check on the apartment if it was still standing). Snowy seemed to appreciate the presence, making tiny neighs and clopping noises with the floorboard.
In any case, Vance ended up liking the company. It was more pleasant to watch shows with something sleeping on top of him. It was like being alone since there were no other buns, but also not quite since there was still something moving around and asking for his attention from time to time. He scratched behind the Uniqor’s ear, wondering what he should do about dinner tonight. Snowy responded by moving around a little on his lap, changing where its head lay before snuggling up to him. The bun couldn’t help but smile.
“Dinner can wait.” he closed his eyes and leaned his head back on the backrest, trying to quiet down his mind for a few moments at the very least.
