Dango time!
Pyxis made his way to the dango shop, interested in what he was selling since Delta had made such a big deal about how much he enjoyed being pampered. Well, at least thats how Pyxis remembered it. In actuality it was more like he would enjoy Pyxis pampering him occasionally and then getting him treats occasionally. But Pyxis would do his best to try and get Delta what he wanted and today he wanted the two of them to have a relaxing night. Dango, a movie, maybe a few drinks... well virgin drinks for himself and if Delta wanted a stronger one then he'd get one.
He finished his work up at the greenhouse, letting his employees know he'd be on call for another hour or two if they needed extra hands, but they were usually able to help themselves. He made his way over to the back of the greenhouse, lifting Arpus up onto his shoulder, the small corvat cawing at him softly in protest. He shushed the imp before grabbing a fake carat toy out of his bag to give to him. He was hoping to train him to the toy instead of stealing his carats yet it still didn't seem to work. Pyxis would still try though. No reason not to especially if it kept his carats safe.
He started heading towards the dango shop, humming softly as he did as Arpus flew around occasionally, tossing the little carat around. Once he walked in, the sweet smell of the fruits and soy glaze waft into his nose and the sound of Dan in the back pounding the rice into a sticky paste. Arpus jumped the first few times before deciding to settle between Pyxis's horns, though the smell of the mochi and dango kept the little imp curious. Pyxis peered to where he was the other day with Shibani, the previously empty room now filled with bags of rice and a pail of water. The mortar was set in the middle and Dan working away as he hit with the large mallet. Pyxis let him continue, figuring it was quite an important task at the moment. Plus Pyxis has time, he didn't mind the extra wait nor to hear the rythmic sound occasionally filling the space. He stepped up to the counter and looked through each of the dango, unsure which would be Delta's favorite. He knew his favorite dessert was tiramisu, but... there was obviously no tiramisu dango. Arpus peered around for his favorite little mochi, the floral mochi, but unfortunately they were out, leaving his small beak empty.
Not too long after the two started looking through the clear glass, Dan made his way to the front, having heard Pyxis humming to himself in thought as he tried picking out which Dango he would buy. Arpus meanwhile was trying to find which one he wanted to snatch, any kind of green or floral looking dango or mochi would do, he just wanted a taste. The matcha dango caught his little eye and he hopped onto the ground, off Pyxis's head. Pyxis didn't pay him much mind, though he should have learned to at this point.
Dan's face doesn't change much from the hard working face he had made earlier, though Pyxis wasn't put off much by it. "What can I get you?" He says, not a lot, though it wasn't necessary to say too much.
"Ah, I was hoping you could help me with that?" Pyxis laughs quietly, "I uhm, I'm unsure what my partners favorite dango is, which I should know but I don't." He sighs, looking back at all the dango before him. He guessed he could try one or two just to absolutely make sure he didn't like them but... he was sure he didn't. "He likes tiramisu if that helps?"
Dan just looks at him for a moment. "Well, we don't have tiramisu dango. But you could try just.. getting all of them?" He shrugs, looking at each. Surely this buns partner would enjoy all of his dango. They were made by him afterall.
Pyxis blinks up at the tall bun, right... all of it. "I could... but that's a lot of carats." He grimaces. He was happy to spend carats on Delta. So. Happy. Especially when it was so many carats. Yes. He'd absolutely love to do that.
Dan just nods, "Well of course. I'm not going to undersell myself." He almost scoffs, though since Pyxis had greed horns he let it slide. Surely and hopefully it wasn't a slight at him, just that he'd have to spend carats.
"No no... I wouldn't ask you to do that." He sighs, he'd just have to dish some extra money out. Not that it wasn't easy to make it back but... he'd definitely mourn this small loss.
While the two spent their time talking, Arpus had made his way around the counter, little hops as he walked. He was on a mission to get that matcha dango. It was green therefore it was the same as the floral mochi in his little imp brain. He continued to hop his way around, climbing and flapping up slightly until he made his way onto the counter out of the sight of both Pyxis and Dan. He suddenly noticed the small batch of extra dango laid out and ready to be put on display. A jackpot for the little imp. He hopped his way over to the tray and started to pick up the different sticks, hopping down when he couldn't lift anymore, managing to drag three with him down to the floor. He made his way back to Pyxis, unable to fly with the added weight of the dango. He started crawling up Pyxis's pant leg, his little claws poking at Pyxis's skin and finally drawing his attention to the imp.
"Arpus!" He exclaims, pulling the three little dango out of his mouth and setting him back on his shoulder. He holds them out to Dan, "I'm so sorry! I don't know if you can reuse these since he just dragged them on the floor but-" He cuts himself off with more apologies spilling from his lips. "I don't know why-... well I know why he would, he's obsessed with your dango and mochi. Has been since he had some floral mochi forever ago." He sighs with a small laugh.
Dan wasn't sure what to do, he definitely couldn't use the dango now but... to hear the imp loved his dango so much that he tried to get his owner to buy more... well.. "It's ok. You can keep them." He nods, letting Pyxis take them back. "Besides, if he enjoys them so much, he deserves them." A small smile creeps its way onto his face, "I can offer some more that he might like if he enjoyed the floral mochi so much?" He doesn't let Pyxis answer, already going to grab others that he hoped the imp might obsess over.
Pyxis just watched as the man handed him a few extra sticks of dango for free. He paused for a moment just accepting them with a small nod and placing them in a little bag to keep them fresh. "Oh... okay. Sure... I'll see if he likes these." He nods again, surprised by the fact that he was just being given these dango. "Well, uhm I still need ones and reccomendations for my partner."
Dan looks at him for a moment, "Right." He turns back around to grab a few mitarashi and red bean dango, handing them to Pyxis as well. "Small discount, I'm sure you'll both love it." Another small smile picks up on the corner of his lips and Pyxis can't help but smile back, happily shelling out the smaller amount of carats than he was faced with earlier. "I'll let you know, I'm sure me coming back will let you know how much we enjoyed it." He laughs softly, placing the little bags of dango into his own bag to carry them. "I appreciate it a ton Dan. I'll be sure to stop by more often." He hums.
Dan nods, "Please do. I sell the best dango, won't find it anywhere else." His smile grows some, though it was more proud than anything. Made sense all things considered.
Pyxis nods, "I doubt I would. I trust your word." He laughs quietly before waving bye to the man, Arpus happily sitting on his shoulder now that he had plenty of new dango to eat. Hutch might be a little upset at Pyxis's choices of food for his imp but... Arpus was happy and that's what mattered.
Pyxis made his way back to his and Delta's shared house, having stopped by a few stores before hand and setting up a small blanket fort and a movie on the TV for them to watch. He set out the dango, setting the ones for Arpus down on a counter for him to steal whenever he swept past. Delta and Pyxis curl up in the blankets, eating the sweet and savory dango. Delta had nothing but positives to say while Pyxis was even more sure on his stance of the dessert, though he'd happily swing by for Delta and Arpus. If his two favorite boys enjoyed it, he was happy to keep spending his carats for them, though he'd still never admit it. It was his little 'secret'.
I love corvats
