Sweet or Savory?
Dan turned around as the chime of a bell signaled a customer entering his sweets shop. He wasn’t surprised in the slightest upon seeing who it was, though he couldn’t help but chuckle. “Good morning, Tsubaki. Was all the dango you bought yesterday not enough?” He couldn’t help but tease.
Tsubaki’s cheeks flushed in embarrassment. Usually she was better about making her dango purchases last at least a few days, but yesterday she just couldn’t help herself for some reason. The dango was too good and she found herself eating stick after stick. “My, uh… My sister came over yesterday.” She mumbled, an obvious lie, but she didn’t want to admit that for once, she was the gluttonous one.
“No need to lie, I’m honored that you like my work so much.” Dan chuckled. “Besides, we both know that if your sister was the cause, you would have had to come by for more yesterday rather than waiting until today.”
Well, he got her there. Though truthfully, Tsubaki wouldn’t have even shared her dango with her sister anyways. It was just in her nature as a greed bun to not want to share her things, but thankfully her sister understood and never pressured her to. “Right. Well, um, I’d like thirty orders of mitarashi dango please.” More than she usually ordered, but she still hadn’t gotten the intense craving out of her system.
Dan nodded and punched it into the register, once again unsurprised. Ever since Tsubaki had become a regular customer of his, he always made sure to make extra mitarashi dango and to always have some on hand. Judging by the way she was going through them lately, he would have his work cut out for him to make sure he had enough stock for both her and other customers.
After paying and receiving her order, Tsubaki practically skipped out of the shop, her eyes sparkling with excitement that soon she would be able to eat more dango.
