A Surprise Meeting
The beach had always been a favorite place for Davy, it was the perfect place for some loud action and fun as well as a place to relax. It was around midday, at least that was what could be assumed as the light from the crystals through the fog were bright and with that, came a comfortable heat paired with the cool feeling of the ocean. The warm sand moved under his weight as he lay sprawled out with a cold drink in his hand. ‘Can’t beat a hot day and a cold drink’ he thought to himself, raising the drink up into his vision and looking at the half empty amber glass of his Rum bottle. The sweat of the glass beading up and falling cold on his cheeks as he gave a large grin. He had a bit of a buzz already before he made his way out to enjoy the scenery, spending a good few hours earlier in the day at the Rabbit Hole.
He looked past the dark colored bottle out to the bright blue and thought of things to come and fun to be had later in the day but the small sense of quiet peace was a nice respite from his otherwise busy and loud life. He gave a chug from the bottle, feeling the cold slide down his throat before the burn soon followed and laughed to himself, man… He should have picked up an extra bottle before coming out here. His tentacles gently glided along the sand as he was lost in thought and before he knew it he was making a comedic multi winged angel. It wasn’t until he heard a laugh off in the distance and a shadow being cast over his face did he realize he was not alone in his quiet piece of the beach.
Davy gave a squint to make out the shadowed face, backlit from the bright blue above and gave a boastful laugh as he realized who was the surprise company, Captain. “Making sand angels are we?” Captain asked with a smile, leaning over Davy before plucking the bottle from his hand and taking a sip. Davy gave a loud boastful laugh as he sat up, looking down to see his accidental handiwork. “Well I’ll be-” He gave his thick stomach a small brush to clean off some sand that had found its way on him before taking a proper look at his friend, now finishing off his bottle. “Hey, you better’ve brought more if you’re gonna clean me out like that!” He said with a laugh.
Captain finished off the bottle with a small pop and an exhale before tossing the now empty glass back at the large man. “Ah, I’ll make it up to you later” He replied with a smile. It wasn’t uncommon to find Captain out and about on the beach, or in the water and today was no exception. He had a surfboard in hand, now gently stuck in the soft sand as he finished off the alcohol.
“Didn’t expect to find you out here in the middle of nowhere.” Captain said as he looked out at the ocean with a disappointed sigh.
“Yeah? Could say the same for you, not surfin’ at your normal spot?”
“Ah, this time of year, everyone wants to swim and surf. Place is packed and no one wants to take turns on the big waves. Figured I’d find something out here but.. “ He purses his lips as he looks at the rather flat water.
“Nah, sorry Cap’. The tide isn’t with you over here.” Davy gives him a smile as he reaches out for the man’s wrist and pulls him down to sit, leaving the large board posted behind them. “I’m better company, besides- there’s plenty better things to do in the ocean.”
Captain raises his brow with a smile, he was looking for fun in the water, and he wasn’t too picky on what that meant. “Yeah? Like what?” He asked, knowing full well the answer.
“How about we go out and I show you, you owe me anyway after stealin’ my rum.” He leaned in with a toothy grin and Captain returned one along with a playful slap on his chest.
