Clothes Make the Mannequin | The Seven Fabrics
Bahem had been brought back to Peter after his show with Velveteen. The model talked for a short while regarding Bahem being their new model for religious-themed shows, then asking the other succubun to refit some of his previous work to Bahem's form. Before Bahem could even question being a permanent model for the Vellure Agency, Velveteen was gone.
Both Peter and Bahem sighed, though Peter's was one of slight affection and Bahem's was one of slight exhaustion. Admittedly, when Bahem was asked to go into town for a favor Oleander owed Velveteen, he didn't expect to be out for this long. Peter seemed to notice Bahem's tired sigh, turning around and giving the priest a gentle smile. "I'm sorry about this, Bahem. I know you're probably quite busy." Bahem shrugged lightly with a nervous laugh. "It's okay! I'm sure that Oleander would appreciate me having some time out of church anyways. Something about the sin of sloth, I'm sure." Peter nodded. "Well that's good then! I'll only really need to call you back after I finish making these adjustments to my pieces, seeing as you're... kind of the same body type as some of my mannequins. So, you can do whatever you wish in the meantime! I even have some excess supplies in the corner if you want to try and make something!"
Peter motioned to the corner in question, and Bahem looked at the stacks of fabrics and tools. He hummed lightly- he did have a limited range of outfits, typically only wearing whatever the church provided... He supposed it wouldn't hurt to have something different every once and a while. Even if it didn't turn out pretty, he could at least try to make something for himself. "I suppose... if you're really sure, Peter." To that, Peter almost shoved Bahem in the direction of the supplies, a big smile across his features. "Of course, I'm sure! Velveteen's models like to make clothing for themselves here all the time! My studio is your studio!" Bahem was still a bit unsure, but watching the way Peter smiled at him before walking off to do his own work made him feel a little better. After all, if Peter said it was okay, then it had to be, right?
The two buns worked silently, but it still made Bahem happy- working next to someone and being able to look over at what they were working on always made him feel a sense of community. While he would look over at Peter every now and again, he tried to focus on his little project. He didn't try to make anything too extravagant, as he didn't know how much time he would actually have to finish it. The entire time, he didn't even consider the idea of coming back to it at a later point, it was a miracle in itself that he didn't end up hurting his fingers with how much he was rushing.
When Peter did call for Bahem to come back towards him, the priest had a small piece of fabric in his hands, though Peter could tell that it was much more than just a piece of fabric. It was Bahem's own little bit of artistic fashion. "Well, I finished up the changes to the clothes, but before we actually try them on..." Peter reached his hands out gently, a sign that Bahem understood as a simple request to look at what Bahem had made. The brooch was put together with seven pieces of fabric, all decorated with different small embellishments and sewn-on decorations. Peter, safe to say, was intrigued. "Is there any artistic thoughts you had while making this, Bahem?" Peter asked, and though Bahem was a bit nervous about putting his thoughts out there, he couldn't argue against the tailor's soft voice.
"Well, the blue fabric with the embroidered clouds is meant to resemble the dream world visited by those aligned with the sin of sloth... The violet fabric with the pearl additions is to resemble the royal appearance of those who align with pride, however, those pearls also continue on to the golden fabric with additional embellishments of gemstones, to represent the wealth associated to those aligned with Greed. " Peter nodded along as Bahem continued, running his hand across the fabric as the different colors were explained.
"The gold is connected to this very similar dark gold, which is decorated with small flannel print to give reference to picnic blankets, which many would connect with gluttony. That color then turns into this dark pink color- the lace attached to it has connections to the sin of lust, as well as connecting well with the previous section's picnic blanket pattern. From there we get to...." Bahem paused, looking at the piece of fabric his hand was hovering over. "Bahem?" Peter asked, eyes looking over the Priest's face. That piece of the brooch was a brighter red, and while there wasn't any additions to that section, there was a hole that looked to be burned into the piece.
Bahem didn't want to say what he thought when he added that one. He didn't want to weigh down Peter's mind with the idea that Bahem saw himself like a burnt piece of fabric... so he moved on, his own hand gently guiding Peter's to the final section of the piece. "And this saturated but still darker blue has aspects from most of the other sections, as to reference the jealous nature of the sin of Envy. I wished to interpret as many sins as I could as a display of my faith."
Peter didn't question the part of the brooch they moved over, instead taking the brooch away for a moment, and placing it upon one of the outfits that he had fixed up for Bahem's measurements. When he turned around, Bahem looked over the intricate details of the suit, noticing how well his little piece of art matched with it all. He was sure that if someone had seen it, they would have thought that the piece was a collaborative endeavor from the start. "Well, I think that it looks perfect, all of it." Peter commented, gently handing the suit over to the priest. "Now come on, I want to see how it looks on you!"
Bahem moved to hide behind one of the many tables in the studio in order to change, too shameful to reveal himself in front of Peter, even if it was for something innocent. When he lifted himself out from under the table, he found himself looking at one of the standing mirrors, watching over his body and admiring himself for the first time in a while.
Peter ended up behind him, staring towards the mirror as well. "It's perfect! With your Rosary and everything, it truly looks like you're the embodiment of the artistic merits of the Church of Sulfur! Your brooch especially makes it all come together, I feel."
"Do you mean it, truly?" Bahem asked, admittedly thinking that Peter was just saying that to make him smile. "I do! I mean it! In fact... would you be willing to make some more accessories for the rest of the line I refitted for you?" Peter tilted his head slightly, looking towards the pile of clothes that he had just readjusted sizes for.
Bahem, unable to say no to a chance to help someone, nodded his head. "Of course, Peter. If you really think they're that good..."
